i think castiel's anger was a great point of the episode.. too bad he didn't show his emotions so freely since then :(
I agree and I totally understand where his anger is coming from and I know Castiel has violent emotions in his heart too, it’s not all love and devotion. It’s simply difficult when looking at it through the lens of who Cas is today? Cas who feels such profound guilt for hurting Dean.
I think he does get to show his emotions, he just doesn’t get to show his disappointment like that anymore. And now that I think about it, that’s actually bad. I don’t need him to beat up Dean or Sam of course, but I do wish he got to shout at people and tell them very clearly that he feels the people he gave so much for have failed him. But at this point he probably can’t? He thinks everything is his own fault. That the angels betray and hurt him? His fault. That Dean and Sam neglect him? His fault. Probably that god never answered his pleas for help? His fault.
He hasn’t been able to bluntly state his negative feelings about other people letting him down or hurting him since about season 6. He still did it in round about ways back in season 7 (though he was pretty ‘don’t like conflict’ so of course he’s not going to get into arguments with Dean...)
*has feelings about Castiel*
