KOI - Are You Listening? (prod. by Freewxrld)
I like to stay recent, so I'll use this track to introduce you all to KOI. I was recommended to check her out earlier today, and I am far from disappointed. Each track that I played off of her soundcloud was soulful, and relaxing. Her most recent project "Diggin You," is as amazing as the track I present to you right now. She brings the same exact feeling with each track, and her unique voice is soothing. The realness is what stands out the most.
In her latest effort, "Are You Listening?" KOI goes into detail about her love. At a first listen, I thought it was a track explaining how she needs someone to listen to her, but as I repeated it over and over, it's a song about utter admiration and the need for her love to listen to how he makes her feel. This song is smooth with production from Freewxrld who is also on her latest compilation. Are You Listening? makes me feel appreciated. It gives the type of visual mood similar to Poetic Justice. The love is felt throughout the song, and it’s truthfully amazing.
KOI is from South Florida, which makes me even more excited to write about her because it shines another light on other artists of South Florida to show the world that we have great talent down here. Her unique voice is hard to compare. In all honesty, I’ve sat here trying to name a person who she reminds me of, and the closest I can come to is Syd from the Internet, when it comes to the voice, and flow, as well as content of her artwork. I love the energy she brings and can’t wait to hear more. Enjoy!
