It’s the 50th anniversary of her sinking in Lake Superior, such a beautiful freighter, unfortunately nature doesn’t care about that. RIP to all 29 crew aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Freighter now free after running aground in the Detroit River
… Ethan Severson from St. Clair Shores said these incidents have been pretty common over the last few years.
“Second one this year and fourth one in the last four years,” Severson said.
Freighters running aground has become a common sight in the Detroit River. Earlier this month, the 730-foot Paul J. Martin ran aground in the same area.
“I don’t know how it got stuck here,” Severson said.
Severson works on tugboats like the ones used to help free the Robert S. Pierson, which was stuck in 24 feet of water about 30 feet from the breakwall. He came down to photograph the freighter after hearing about it on social media.
“All along here along the shoreline is completely mud,” Severson said. …

Caught a Great Lakes freighter unloading stone at Zilwaukee Michigan today.
This is located on the Saginaw River. I’ve been to this boat launch park many times but never saw one of these. It is very huge.
That is a tugboat nestled in at the rear. The tug is the one who has the tall tower. The ship has left and I’m waiting to see if they will get it turned around before I have to leave. Edit: I did not see the ship as it left. Also, it you look on the big white platform you can see a man up there. Yeah, this was huge!!
