I always recommend this movie to people whose only familiarity with Heavy Metal magazine is the 1981 film and who want to experience the more artistic and contemplative side of the stories that could be found in the magazine.

Does anybody else remember that gay dog cartoon from France that like every furry on tiktok was obsessing over a couple years back? 😭 Is that show still going? I haven't heard anything about that show in like 2 years it was inescapable on my fyp for a bit there
Code Lyoko is coming back!
I am just finding out that apparently last week it was revealed Code Lyoko, the popular French animated series is in the process of returning for season 5!
I LOVED Code Lyoko growing up with its great action, drama, and how nearly every episode was basically parodying a horror movie in some way AND how it had a great combination of using both 2D AND 3D animation at the same time. It is also the show where I got my first ship from (Ulrich and Yumi) and the main show that taught me about the “will, won’t they” romance trope and how bad it can get, which helped me endure future works that had that trope.
The fact it is coming back after 19 years AND its said the main actors of it will be reprising their roles is amazing, especially since the last Code Lyoko sequel didn’t turn out great. Though I wouldn’t say all of it was bad but more on that later.
I can’t wait to see what will happen in it, as after the series finale you got to wonder how a season 5 is going to bring back the status quo, or some kind of status quo. I made a deviation a few years ago going over a better sequel series for Code Lyoko that you should check out as it contains a lot of fun ideas while also including a few elements from Evolution.
Are you excited that Code Lyoko is returning?
Trying to spread Dragon Striker on TikTok is super annoying, because every video has comments talking about how it’s an Inazuma 11 knock-off, not considering that
Shows are allowed to be inspired by other shows and that it’s a two cakes scenario, especially since it’s been a hot minute since we got an Inazuma anime.
Superpower soccer shows are weirdly numerous enough that they can be considered their own sub-genre (to say nothing of the broader world of super powered sports anime).
Dragon Striker is clearly doing its own thing. Both it and Inazuma 11 take from sports anime, sure. But Inazuma 11 takes on an almost toyetic anime approach like Beyblade and Dragon Striker is doing fantasy.
Anyway, if you are a fan of Inazuma 11, sports anime in general, fantasy, French animation, or just good animated shows, I suggest you check out Dragon Striker. It’s really good and it needs all the people watching it that it can get.
watched arco again, need to hug mikki more than any other robot it's unreal 🥹
