Why is French so hard to learn???
That's something I'm often asked! Truth is, it kind of depends on what your first language is, but French has some ever-existing difficulties:
The spoken and written French are different. That's super important to understand: they answer to different rules.
Pronunciation is often a hard sport too: whether it's the "r", the nasal sounds or the intonation - not to mention the spelling/pronuncing differences
We're known to have a lot of tenses
But the thing is, these difficulties get really easier when you understand the underlying principles of french, like
the laziness principle (get that sentence over asap)
or how the tenses go by two (one focusing on the verb itself - simple tenses, and one focusing on the result of the verb - composed tenses)
or how for conjugation, "nous" and "vous" are always the ones deviating from the others
Truth is, French is based on systems. Yeah we do have lots of exceptions, but that's because we're chaotic :)
