A Garden Allegory. The Dew and Zephyr Cultivating Flowers, marble (1683/1732) Benoît Massou (1633–1684), Anselme Flamen (1647–1717), and Nicolas Rebillé (active 1732–1751), French, collaborated over fifty years to breathe life into this marble group, bridging the gravity of the Baroque Grand Siècle with the airy grace of the burgeoning Rococo. The work personifies the West Wind, Zephyr, identifiable by his delicate butterfly wings, as he kneels before the Dew (La Rosée) to offer a floral tribute.
