Your time is valuable!

The things you do should be worth your time.

Homework and other assignments can be tedious; if you look at them like chores, you’ll soon find yourself doing not much more than completing them. If you decide that these tasks are beneficial in ways such as bringing you closer to your goals and giving you greater know how, you’ll gain much more than a good looking transcript. 

Do your best to be apart of the clubs and organizations that speak to your morals or interests. Giving your time to groups that don’t fit your fancy can cause you to miss an opportunity you would have loved or appreciated.

Failure is not the worst thing ever!

Every person out there has made a mistake or received a bad grade. The important thing isn’t that you’ve failed, it’s being proactive about how you’re going to move forward from this setback.

Take a minute to reflect on how and why you went wrong. Did you forget to turn something in because you accidently left it at home? Did you miss a number of test questions because you didn’t study a certain section enough? Using a low grade as a means to do better next time is one of my favorite motivators.

By understanding the faults you made, you can utilize what you gained as a way to succeed. Using the examples above, you now know to pack your bag the night before as well as specific material you can improve your understanding of.

It’s okay if you need to take some time for yourself!

You don’t have to be a happy-go-lucky person every second of every day. There are going to be times where you’re stressed, sad, or exhausted (maybe even a combination of all three) and it’s important to take care of your mental health. 

You should regularly take some time for self care; this will ease the pressure you may feel from school or life general. It’s a good idea to take a day off during the week where you focus on doing things that bring you joy and leave your studies out of the picture.  

Giving yourself a break recharges your mind and body. This reoccurring downtown will keep you from burning out and primed to achieve.
