Okay imagine like after Sirius has gone to live with the Potter’s Regulus is starting to become more aware about what is going down with the death eaters and Voldemort, so he tries to warn Sirius by telling him in French. 

Sirius and Regulus both speak French, but Sirius has NEVER told anyone at hogwarts that he can speak/understand the language.

One day in the Library Regulus just randomly approaches Remus James and Sirius studying and says something like “ il va y avoir une guerre. Je ne veux pas choisir un camp. Je suis désolé” and just walks away. And Sirius is like dumbfounded and Remus and James are like WTF SIRIUS DID REGULUS JUST WALK OVER HERE AND SPEAK IN FRENCH?! and sirius responds with a week smile, and “toujours pur”. He’d just have to explain that one later.

Okay you know what is such an underrated friendship: Remus and Regulus.

Like I feel like they would really like each other: undoubtedly respect each other. They would understand each other so well and not at all at the same time bc they are such a mess lol.

Like choices remus is right now the only one who knows regulus is not completely on the death eaters side - Remus knows about how regulus knew the death eaters would meet the order at the ministry and didn’t say anything ahhhh
