Quite incredible that this is an Aubusson tapestry a portrait of Jean Charles de Cordes believed to be painted by Van Dyck or Rubens and woven by atelier Braquenié - the composition on the tapestry is reversed from left to right compared to the painting - the fineness of detail is impressive -apparently the portrait of Jean-Charles wife Jacqueline de Caestre was also woven but the location is unknown 😯be sure to check out your attics 😉😂 #aubusson #limousin #aubussontapestry #frenchhistory #frenchtextiles #antiquefrenchtextile #museeaubusson #aubssonmuseum https://www.instagram.com/p/CTCIIbfrzTh/?utm_medium=tumblr
