Dorothy Liebes was a textile designer working from the 1930s through the 1960s, so she expressed the mid-century modern look in her fabrics for decor and for fashion. Liebes thought fashion for clothing was too fickle, but her hand-woven fabrics made for beautiful garments. Both Adrian and Bonnie Cashin made the most of her woven fabrics.

This show runs through February 4, 2024 in New York at the Cooper Hewitt. They also created a Digital Exhibition online for those of us who can't travel there to see it and the images of the fabrics are lush, and got me thinking of ways I would like to use them. A book of the exhibition is out at as well.

I have acquired quite a collection of embroidered tea towels - most of them never washed, let alone used. I have copied the design from one of them onto my @sarah_crowest strap-on painting/apron, as part of my plan to work over the entire surface eventually. I had to switch the black to a pale grey, or it would have been invisible.
