Hi I promise this is the singular only time I’ll make a post like this
My kitty is absolutely fine, but here’s the thing about her: she was from a shelter. They cared for her from the time she was a kitten up until the time my partner and I adopted her when she was 6. She was pretty “unadoptable” - besides being a black cat, she also has anxiety, which manifested as not being particularly friendly when people entered her enclosure, but also as inappropriate soiling. She was adopted a couple of times during those 6 years, but then returned to the shelter every time due to her health issues.
But the shelter never gave up on her. The member of staff teared up with happiness when we said this cat was the one we wanted to adopt. She’s 10 now and I don’t know what I’d do without her. She is by far one of the most important things in my life.
The shelter she came from, Freshfields, was robbed on Saturday. This, in addition to a general shortfall of funds, means they’re struggling somewhat - they care for lots of other animals too, including bunnies, and with Easter around the corner it’s a bit of a concern.
