HeroForge finally gave us proles access to two models!
Freya Soulfire, the Leader
Redesigned my girl Freya, one of my first D&D 5E characters.
Name: Freya Soulfire Age: 23 years Species: Tiefling (Avernan) Gender: Female Sexuality: Demisexual Class: Eldritch Knight Alignment: Chaotic Good Primary Attributes: Strength and Intelligence
- Her real surname is “Ashburn”, but she gave herself a pseudonym in order to protect her family, because rather uniquely for a D&D character, her parents are still alive. She grew up as something of a delinquent, the daughter of a retired adventurer (Aria Ashburn), and a blacksmith (Oran Ashburn). Aria taught her daughter to fight, and Oran made her first weapons and armour.
- Freya is theoretically a soldier of fortune, fighting monsters and bandits and going on quests in order to make a living. However, she chose this path out of a genuine desire to help people, and often forgets to take payment just because she’s too distracted with doing the right thing.
- Freya was trained by the military of her homeland and took part in the War of the Six-Headed Dragon. However, she chafed under military rules and eventually left the army in order to pursue her own career as an adventurer.
- She views rules and laws primarily as obstacles. Despite having the upstanding and heroic nature stereotypical of a Paladin, she would never be able to be one, because she can’t honestly swear by a Paladin Code, because she knows she would break it in a heartbeat if she decided it was necessary to do the right thing. The world is probably very fortunate that she tends to think small, and what’s good for the individual person she’s helping. If she thought bigger, she might well become a well-intentioned overlord.
- Her main weapon is Firestorm, a double-bladed glaive. She originally used twin swords, but later pivoted to a single weapon with two blades after being retrained by the Spring Queen.
- The large sword on her back is called Fiendsbane. It was originally wielded by my previous character, but he abandoned it after he turned evil and went on to become a Campaign Boss.
- The broken sword on her hip isn’t a trophy, but her original sword. She keeps it out of sentimentality.
- Freya’s whole body is technically a weapon. Her biceps are the size of some of her friends’ entire skulls, and all of her limbs end in razor-sharp claws. Her horns are sturdy and mostly made of bone, and her tail is tipped with a single sharp-edged spike of exposed bone. A row of smaller spikes runs down her back, starting between her shoulder-blades and all the way along her tail.
- She got her wings by making a deal with a Marid, wishing for the power to protect her friends. As Marids grant the opportunity for the wisher to make their desires reality rather than a direct boon, it arranged for a subsequent encounter with an Aboleth to mutate her into a more powerful winged form.
- As can be gleaned from her name, she specialises in fire. Her magic burns a radiant green, and her eyes glow whenever she taps into her powers. As her strength rises, her hair becomes wreathed in green fire, and her body begins to ignite as well.
- Despite being ostensibly cosmologically insignificant, and having no divine backing, Freya has displayed a surprising ability to punch out Chosen Ones, which is convenient because she has to fight multiple of them.
- This is probably because of her sheer, bloody-minded determination. Freya will not give up, ever. She will keep fighting until she physically cannot stand anymore, and maybe even beyond that.
- Freya has died once. It wasn’t for very long, but her torso is badly scarred by the acid attack that killed her. She has an understandable fear of acid-based weapons and spells as a result of this.
- She is hot-headed, and enjoys fighting. This can sometimes cause her to get in over her head, and make situations worse. However, she’s always keenly aware of her own failings, and makes sure to apologise if she ever endangers her friends by accident.
- She has ultimately wound up in a relatively stable relationship with another of my characters, who I will post about at a later date. The two work exceptionally well as a team.
- When designing her, my primary inspirations were Yang from RWBY, Undyne from Undertale, and Agent Tex from Red vs. Blue.
Venali's attempts to flirt with Freya continue to go badly.
(Also Beth is imagining how much Venali with twitch if she gets hit with a Lightning Bolt.)
He's having Protagonist Foreshadowing Dreams.
Freya handles being flirted with very well.
Beth/Mistral knows this and is a gremlin about it once she's got her own shit sorted out.
