Ever since he was spotted flying out to Las Vegas on New Year's Eve, Elijah Bennett has been keeping a low profile. The London Calling singer, who recently turned twenty-eight on December 24, was briefly spotted out on the strip hand-in-hand with girlfriend Freya Jensen on December 31. It looked like the pair, who confirmed their budding romance at Erika Lee's Halloween bash, were taking a post-holiday vacation with one another.
Nearly three months after those New Year's photographs were published in the press, however, it's been confirmed that the trip served a much larger purpose.
An anonymous insider has confirmed to the LA Reporter that on January 1, Elijah Bennett and Freya Jensen got married!
Our source, who asked to be identified only as Sam, says that the couple decided only a few days after Christmas to tie the knot together in a private and immediate ceremony. So LA Reporter reached out to representatives of Bennett and Jensen, and both parties confirmed that the couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony only a couple of hours after the clock struck midnight. Their relationship, which is believed to have only began in September, has been quite the whirlwind. An impromptu wedding definitely seems to fit the bill for them, and now it appears that Elijah Bennett has broken the curse of his doomed flings with Jensen!
Fan reactions to the news, however, have been spread wide and far across the board. For years, a large segment of London Calling fans have theorized that Bennett was in a secret homosexual relationship with bandmate Jameson Hall - despite years of denials and Bennett's numerous other (highly public and very messy) relationships taking the forefront. For those fans, the news has not been well. Some have even taken to creating long twitter threads, attempting to prove that the marriage is somehow fake. In response, the bride showed the official copy of their marriage license on an Instagram livestream merely two hours after the news was announced.
Not all fans have been disparaging, however. Jensen's fans in particular have been overwhelmingly supportive, keeping the hashtag #FreyaLovesElijah trending for more than twenty-eight hours, nearly a year in internet time! Fans of the couple have also been donating large sums of money to the Have Heart Foundation, Bennett's own charitable organization that uses donations to provide support for underprivileged and displaced women and children across Britain. As of this publication, more than one million dollars have been raised!
