Twitter was abuzz on Saturday night as a new Daniel Khara song found its way onto the internet. The former London Calling star, 27, is the only band member to have not released any solo material since the group parted ways in 2016. While Jameson Hall, Kendrick Abbott, Seamus Byrne, and Elijah Bennett have all found chart-topping success as solo acts: Khara has remained rather quiet about music plans despite signing a solo recording contract with RCA in January of 2017. Which sparks the question about whether or not the leak was planned.
The song, a crisp tropical-infused dance track allegedly called "Still Got Time", sounds exactly like a lead single. It's catchy and, as fans have pointed out, sounds similar to the kind of music that Khara is known to be a fan of. As this is the first taste of London Calling-less Khara, it almost feels like four years was worth the wait. Some fans, however, have pressed the idea that listening to the leaked song is disrespectful and goes against Khara's own wishes.
Interestingly, some fans have defended their decision to listen to the leaked song by theorizing that it was leaked on the wishes of Daniel Khara, himself.
Afterall, it looks like the song was posted by a newly created twitter account with a username referencing the song (@gottime20) which has no other tweets, and doesn't even have a profile picture. Is it possible that Khara is leaking his own music to fans as a way to gauge his current work?
Regardless of the allegations, neither Khara or RCA representatives have responded to LA Reporter’s request for comment. The mystery continues unresolved.
What do you think? Do you think Daniel Khara is leaking his own music? If so, why? Did you hear the song and enjoy it?
Piper Hall, sister of London Calling’s Jameson Hall, was spotted out and about this week with boyfriend Holden Marshall. Piper Hall recently quit her job very publicly in an Instagram post. Hall, 28, worked for News Loop from 22-28. In those six years, she worked in their London office, their New York office, and most recently; their Los Angeles office.
The 28-year old content creator stated in her post: “Most of the questions on the teleprompter were about rumors and different things regarding, in part, Jamie's sexuality and love life. As a content creator, I understand that. I know you want to get views and want your videos to go viral. As a sister, and a decent person really, you have to know when to draw the line.”
She also went on to say in the second paragraph: “I realized that I do not want to work for a company that tries to force people to admit something they may not be ready to admit.”
The LA Reporter reached out to Hall on Instagram, but no response has been given. Updates will be provided as they become available.
BREAKING: Elijah Bennett spotted leaving hotel party in West Hollywood with Kenna Mackenzie. Bennett, 28, recently married actress Freya Jensen. Mackenzie (also 28), is the younger adoptive sister of twins Erin & Dakoda Mackenzie (both 34). Bennett and Mackenzie looked pretty cozy as they got into Bennett’s car. It is unknown where they were headed, but more photos will be provided as they come. No word how Bennett’s wife has reacted.
Days after his wife; Zara Lopez took to the internet to answer fan questions; Seamus Byrne answered fan questions for over an hour on his Instagram Live Q&A. He also blessed us with a performance of his single; Perfect. His album releases later this week on April 14th.
Are you quarantined with anyone else from London Calling?
I am actually not. Jamie and his sister Piper are not that far away, but I’m quarantined with my wife; Zara, our two dogs Hufflefluff & Furcules. Also my twin brother Cassidy has been here a lot. He’s really missing his little girl back in Ireland. She was supposed to come for holiday and hasn’t been able to make it. So no, I’m not with any of the boys, but I’m in contact with all of them.
What is your favorite song on your album; Perfect?
This album means a lot to me. Most of the songs were written after one of the best and worst months of my life. I think the album as a whole is my favorite album I’ve put out to date. That being said; Black and White is my favorite song on the album. That or Soldier. Black and White is about how our relationship started to how it became forever. “I want the world to witness when we finally say I do.” Zara is my rock, she’s my soulmate. I sang this song to her on our wedding day, Soldier was written after a trying time in our lives. I think it is a testament to our love and how we’ve grown as individuals that we can go through such a thing and come out stronger. Just seeing her go through this has made me want to be braver; which is a lyric in Soldier.
Do the two of you plan on having children?
They have always been in our plan. We are both still young. We are both still in the height of our careers. I start touring later this year and I don’t want to be on the road during her whole pregnancy. I was fortunate enough to have a very hands-on Mum, but my da stayed in Ireland after my mother and father divorced. I love my Da, but I am closer to my mum, for sure. I don’t want to be an absent father. I don’t want to be on the road their entire life.
Do you really have a twin or is he made up?
Questions like this always make me laugh. Yes, I have a twin brother. We are identical twins. Cassidy is younger by ten minutes. He has been by my side through everything and vice versa. I’m the godfather of his daughter; Sloane. Let me tell you, that little girl is a spitfire. She’ll be nine this year, and I can’t believe it. Anyway, yes Cassidy is real. I’ll admit, there have been times when he’s stepped in for me. And if you run into me but with glasses, there’s a hundred percent chance that it’s Cassidy, but he’ll still take a picture with you, sign whatever. He’s perfected my signature, and he tells me whenever he meets a fan who thinks he’s me.
You were in Game of Thrones & The Rise of Skywalker, are you going to act again?
I was also in Power Rangers but I think sometimes people forget that. Yeah, I think I’d like to act again. I am going to be touring a lot this year, but I think 2021-2022 might be when I go back to acting after this tour wraps up.
You grew up with Jameson Hall, what was that like?
I’ve known Jamie since I was really young. My parents had just divorced and we moved from Ireland to my Mum’s hometown of Cheshire. Jamie’s mum and da were also in the middle of a divorce as well. We were the same age and had parents in similar circumstances. Me, Jamie, and Cass got up to a lot of shite we probably shouldn’t of. That being said, Jamie is still my best friend to this day. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the other boys from the band, but if and when I have kids, Jamie is going to be their godfather as well as Cassidy. Zara and I have already talked about that.
Did you know that Jamie was gay or was it a shock to you?
I’ve known Jamie since I was six, goin’ on seven. Yeah, I did. In his interview with his sister, he said that he’d been out before all of this stuff; Hitmakers, the band, everything. He was out and proud back then. It was just part of who he was. I love Jamie and I’m so proud of him. Love ya, brother.
Who was your first crush?
Feck, I’m never going to live this one down. I was about eight? Ten maybe? I had a crush on Piper Hall; Jameson’s older sister. I dunno if he knew about it until the interview I did with her, but she didn’t know. I think both my brother and I had a crush on her. She was pretty, older, and off-limits. My first celebrity crush, other than my wife, was Sophia Harrison. Again, we don’t talk about it, Wyatt is another good friend of mine. But yeah, his wife is gorgeous.
Alright loves, I’m going to play you a few tunes, then I’m going to go cook dinner for myself and Zara. Stay safe out there, loves. Thanks, as always, for your love and support. Means the world to an Irish lad like me.
Spotted: Jameson Hall steps out of Mickey’s in West Hollywood. Dressed down in a pair of bellbottom jeans and a red sweater, Jamie looks as if he had a good night up until this point.
Zara Lopez took to the internet from within her home to answer questions by fans. Zara is just one of the celebrities who are practicing social distancing amongst the Covid-19 outbreak. We have the whole Instagram Live Q&A Below!
What inspired your song “I love me?”
I think what really inspired it was that I hit a time in my life that I’m feeling really good about myself. I haven’t felt like this in so long and I just wanted to write a song that capitalized on that feeling. I wanted my fans to know that it’s okay to say you’re a 10 and own it.
Which celeb do you think is a 10/10?
Honestly, I think all celebs are 10s. People all are. You just have to realize that and then live that life. You are a 10/10 no matter what anyone else may say.
Who was your biggest crush growing up?
Weirdly I had a crush on Warren Hayes. Our families are super close and he’s now like an uncle but I remember listening to his music and just falling in love with him. But he’s a great person and is honestly one of my big confidants in my life. We’ve written a couple of songs together with plans to write more some day and I love working with him.
Are you and Seamus still together? We never hear anything about you two.
Of course we’re still together. We’ve even talked about doing a live video concert for you all. Hopefully some day very soon. This time around we’ve both decided to try and keep our relationship more private and more about us.
Any kids in your future?
We’ve always talked about having kids. When that will happen, I’m not sure but we’ll just say it’s a very strong possibility one day.
Any news when your new album will come out?
I’ve been working on some things. I have another single planned that I’m pretty excited about. I’ve been acting more than making music but I do have some more music planned one day. Hopefully this year. Anyone is such a powerful song.
Any special reason you wrote it? I wrote it at a time when I felt alone. Yeah me and Shea were married at the time but I just wasn’t talking about myself or my feelings about something that had happened. The way I was able to express myself was just by writing it all down. It’s one of my favorite songs of mine even if it can be a little hard to perform live.
Okay, thank you all for the questions but that’s all the time I have. Thank you all for joining and for your questions. We will have to do this again. Please stay safe and know I love you all.
Self-proclaimed hetero-life-mates Brantley Ambrose and Dakoda Mackenzie are officially collaborating! These two are the most unlikely of friends not only due to the differences in their own careers but because they are just two people who you wouldn't imagine being friends but they transcend the boundaries of looks and maintain a bromance that all bros are jealous of. Apparently, according to both parties this collaboration was a spur of the moment decision but honestly, we all know that we are here for this friendship and the collaboration is gonna be one of the most unique of the year. Two of the biggest in their genres coming together.
The single will release on June 10, 2020 and while the tracklist and the covers have been announced via Koda's official website we are all super excited for the release. Brantley has held his own as one of the most popular rappers in the U.S as of 2020 and Koda has seen somewhat of a comeback with the release of his 2020 single Sober. The title track has reportedly been written by both Mackenzie and Ambrose and it has been titled as Picky. The single will be categorized as an official release in both artist's discographies and will release in both the United States digitally and in Japan physically and digitally.
The single will have three versions: The Joint limited version will only be available on Mackenzie's official website as well as Ambrose's. It contains the title track which is the collab plus a solo track from each artist. The "Koda" Version will contain the title track and Koda's solo. The "Brantley" version will obviously contain the title track and a solo track from Ambrose. Below is the official track list for each version.
