Matt waits alone in a cold cell for Shiro to return, knees curled up against his chest. Matt had just barely made it through in his own fight, and was now waiting for Shiro to finish his, if he did. It was always the worst kind of wait. Not knowing if Shiro was going to make it back or not. Shiro not knowing if he was going to make it back. 

The door opens and thankfully Shiro is pushed throuhg, a sigh of relief leaving Matt’s lips as he quickly grabs for him to help him sit down. 

He offers the smallest smile, a barest hint of what used to be. 

“Glad you made it.”

honestly one of the best feelings as a writer is when someone quotes something you’ve written back to you. like, your words stuck out to them so much they literally pieced off this tiny portion of text and said !!!!!!! FUCKING THIS!!!!!! and it’s just- it’s such a great feeling i love it
