Friday Wrap-Up - Week 1

DAY 1 -

Word of the day: Nervous

It was the first day of the Creativity Works course and I was super nervous to not only meet everyone but also, to see how the course would unfold throughout the day. Things started off a little quiet as Simone, Tangina and Andrew introduced themselves but, as we started to get to know each other with me going first (Thanks Mum) we started to see how much we have in common and this helped break the ice A LOT! I felt much more relaxed creating the ground rules and going over what is in store for the next 10weeks.

DAY 2 -

Word of the day: Honesty

The second day started off with an amazing mindfulness session with Holly Warren, she helped completely change my perception of mindfulness. This has motivated me to take a little time each day to just be in my surrounding and reflect. We then had an amazing session with Ore Ogungbayi who took us through a mental health 101. Honestly, I didn’t expect this session to touch me as much as it did. We were able to open up about some of our stresses and although it was very hard to do I believe this was a great way for us as a cohort to become more comfortable with each other and I know this will really benefit us throughout the rest fo the 10 weeks. The last session was with Chris Forrester he provided me with a new perspective - we have the ability to intercept our thoughts with just a simple statement “Ah I’m thinking..” I am excited to see how the exercises he has given us will contribute to building my confidence and reducing my anxious thoughts.

DAY 3 -

Word of the day: Open

Cultural tribes! I was petrified and thought how will I fill the 60 seconds with all my different passions and interests I have. With the help of the cultural tribe videos and Simone’s example I quickly discovered that it is not a strict and defining list. We were all able to express whatever we could fit in the time and it was such an amazing opportunity for us to get to know each others interests. Many of us have a lot in common and I am really looking forward to seeing everyones final cultural tribe videos.

DAY 4 -

Word of the day: Perspective

We discussed our personal bios and began writing our vision letters. Simone gave us really good prompts that allowed us to explore what we would like to see in our futures. Although I am finding it a little bit challenging with my current circumstances I am hoping to keep my vision as positive as possible as that is all I would like to be present in my future.
