Handful of Reasons
He gave her four reasons so in turn she gave him five.
“Could you count all your wishes?”
“I don’t have enough to fill one hand.”
They’re laying on shag carpet, soft. One dripping with hair, one with dripping hands. And of course the heater is the only source in this whole house.
He’d forgotten to who it once belonged. But it was certainly not himself.
He turns the page, she snorts in disapproval so like herself for the values instilled in her frame of mind. Despite their situation where welcoming hands could hardly reach even if they wanted to she has plenty to be thankful.
“C’mon Tsuna… a few? More than one hand? I’ll help.” Leans above his resting place belly first on the floor.
“Wai- your hair is dripping on my book- okay, okay! I’ll try.”
She doesn’t move.
“Kyoko, all you’re going to get is a try. I’ll break.”
Said Kyoko leans back reluctantly with a drawn out sigh. Shakes her head a bit so little drops of saltwater fly every which way, irritating Tsuna she knows by the little drops that splash on his cheek turned her way. She sticks one bare foot in front of their heater and curls her toes.
“Hey,” Waits until their eyes lock. “I’m waiting.”
Tsuna too lets out a long suffering sigh, marking his page with a crumpled dare say slightly damp scrap of paper from his pocket. Hands still a bit damp.
“Number one,” He takes into account how her eyes light up. “Beats the rain I guess.”
“...that’s…a start. Try harder on the second.” She’s sitting straighter now. Taking in his grimace with a little laugh. Dummy.
“Number two is company, yeah? If you weren’t here with me I might be inclined to get scared.” Tsuna thinks this is gross but says nothing of it.
Kyoko hums a bit. “Oh but- it’d be funny to hear you shrieking.”
He shoots her a glare. She shrugs her shoulders.
“Number three is that I still have my head attached. And only three people who desperately want to change that.”
Met with silence. He moves down the list quietly.
“Number four is- uh- the floor isn’t hardwood?”
“How about rather than that, you’re still loved.”
“By who?”
Rather offended, Kyoko jabs her thumb in the direction of herself. Frowning like so.
“Oh, yeah.” He pushes her hand so it lowers from its hardly wavering state. “I know.”
“And that’s it.”
She’s taken to a frown again. “That’s it?”
Tsuna nods and she throws herself to the side knocking him over. The very closest she could do to express her disappointment. They weren’t exactly in the type of situation that would room any real childishness.
“Fine.” Turns up her nose much to his amusement. “ ‘s my turn then!”
Tsuna shoots her a coy grin falling on his back into the carpet. Arms sweep up from behind to support his head, elbows pointed towards the popcorn ceiling. “I’m waiting.”
A jab. A tease.
“Number one! I’m awfully glad to have met you Sawada Tsunayoshi. Even if we might die!”
“Hey don’t shout so lou-”
“Number two!” He shuts his mouth instantly. “My brother is alive and well out there, I’m thankful for that. And for our friends who might be looking for us even now.”
Quiet breathing.
“Number three! I’m warm and safe. Nothing in heaven or hell can compare to this soft floor.”
He laughs for that and she shoots him a grin. Dragging her hand down the carpeting as if a self reminder to feel it for maybe the very last.
“Number four! We got to eat pop tarts this morning. They were delicious!” He’s nodding to that one. Their arms linked as they sometimes do. Both laying back in low light.
“Number five! We aren’t going to die! I can feel it in my gut that this isn’t the end,” Kyoko rolls to the left where she knows she’ll be in the crook of his arm. Laying a wet head on his shoulder. “So Tsuna- don’t give up hope. Life is hardly over for us you know.”
A shuddering sigh. “We at least have to live to midlife crisis.”
She’s too tired to jostle him. Sleepily replies with a hushed “yeah.”
Shadows they dance, mock and claw at them. Trying to snag them. But it won’t work. It will never suffocate anything so bright as the sun nor clear as the skies. Her eyes are fluttering shut now and she hopes it won’t be for the last time.
Tsuna smiles at her. Brown eyes crinkling with upturned cheeks as they were. Everything is hazy. Everything is jarring.
When she wakes next he isn’t there and she’s laying face up in a hospital bed. Ryohei whispering “thank goodness” over and over and over. His eyes are red, hers too.
Where is the brown eyed boy? She tries to say but she cannot speak. Where is Tsuna?
He’s gone. Perhaps she’s missed a number.
Number six. May we always be near one another.

Deltarune - Friendship Theme (Orchestral Version)
Whumptober 11th: Hypothermia
Obito blinks. Then again.
He's wondering why is he, a very deadly Shinobi, buried under ten blankets. Something about hypothermia. Kakashi said that meeting his students on peaceful terms might not be the best idea. Obito ignored it and now he was sitting in Sakura's apartament that she shared with Naruto and Sasuke.
In Obito's orginal timeline, he was declared dead because he actually died under that rock. While hung between one and other world, something dragged him away from afterlife and breathed life into alternative self veins.
That second version of him died by suicide saving Rin. He never got to see what happened after he passed away again. Two realities hit him hard before he fell into a third. In the third form, he arrived too late to help Rin, and still was declared dead. This one went insane, thinking he could change the way world is by a not-so-simple genjutsu that turned out to be a resurrection plan of an ancient woman that was a mother to all Shinobi apparently. Which is doubtful, because the force of like alias chakra pulled him back few times and apparently wants him to stick around. Third time he dies, is by sacrifice again.
Again side by side with Kakashi.
He gets pulled back to life in a fourth timeline. Where instead of falling into dust, he was kept in one piece because he's an "unkillable bitch" as the lovely Godaime Hokage - Tsunade Senju said, remembering past lives after he woke from coma, he didn't give a snarky comment nor laugh, like he would.
Back to present, Sakura handed him tea and told checked his temperature.
"Why are you so cold? Do you want to die?"
"... I'm half fake mass. My body doesn't create enough blood for my veins and so it doesn't circulate properly."
"Oh, you can't be warm..."
"Thank you for concern, though."
"But are you sure you are fine off this way? You're 6° lower than you should..."
"I'm used to it after, hmmm, how old are you? 18? Then it's been 16 years nearly, maybe more?"
"I guess then Shodaime's cells are better at keeping you alive than you are."
Uchiha couldn't help but laugh.
