Frog Sord is a charming pixel art platformer that handles wonderfully, with your little frog capable of some remarkable feats of precision platforming.
In Frog Sord you control a frog with a very large sword, his only other remarkable attribute is an ability to perform an air dash in any direction. While other platformers may rely on accessories, upgrades and other gimmicks to hold the players attention, Frog Sord lets the precision platforming and clever level design do the talking. Starting off easily, the difficulty soon ramps up to Super Meat Boy levels. Your little frog will die a lot, but it always seems fair, and there's always the feeling that you'll manage it next time.
Unfortunately development on the game has been halted due to a dispute around ownership of the IP. It's a shame as it really could of been something special. The Devs are currently working on a new game which uses some of the same mechanics though, you can follow it's development through their TIG Page.

I was trying to decide what to draw, then these Frog Sord doodles happened. 8U
Frog Sord is a platformer indie game that is currently in development by MECH6. I found out about it a while ago and immediately fell in love with the concept. (you can probably guess why ehuhuhuhu)
Anyway, I can't wait for its release! I mean, who wouldn't want to play as a small froggy who kicks butt, while wearing a badass, red scarf? No one, that's who.
Got a second response from Sarge of Mech 6 Games. I've got to say the guy was extremely civil given the situation and that really impressed me. Not many people take the time to see both sides of a situation they've found themselves thrust into, and I respect him for that.
Look, I'm glad we got to have this chat. I've been wrestling with a reply for a while.
I'm sorry PMG bummed you out. I really am. I mean, *I* am not offended by what he did, but I have a hard time getting offended by anything.
I'm also riding a pretty big high here today. Our site broke 500 views, I got to interact with some cool people who are interested in the project, an article was written about our game, and Derek "Mother Spelunkin" Yu posted on my dev log. It has been such a great day I called my Dad. I linked him the article. We joked because it was going to be 500 views and no subscribers and that tomorrow this carriage turns back into a pumpkin. You'll have to forgive me, it's hard to empathize right now. I'm trying.
It really doesn't matter though. You are offended. So are some other folks. You feel a little betrayed because he took some praise as an attack and snapped at you. I get it. Indie Developers are supposed to be the "good guys" in the game world right now, and this one doesn't look like a good guy.
I'm bummed out because you're bummed out.
And I really want to be the good guy here. I've been a "good guy" my whole life. I also am not a fan of drama or people getting their feelings hurt. I used to have a job where feelings got hurt a lot, one of those jobs you love to hate. When we got into this we said we wanted to be the "Dave Grohl of video games." Real chill, no over the top theatrics, and a focus on good product.
So I've got a bit of a pittbull here. He's a hell of a dog and very hard working, but he snapped at a neighbor. The problem is that I need a dog and if my neighbors take my dog away I literally can't afford another one.
I'm just trying to find a situation where everyone wins here.
I've been in a lot of situations where somebody has to lose, and let me tell you it usually sucks even being the winner.
Edit: I just reread that last line. In my head it sounds good, but when I say it out loud it sounds ominous. Like some Godfather stuff. Totally didn't mean it like that.
I just wanna say that I really hope the whole issue with that obnoxious person and Frog Sord gets sorted out. I really want it to turn out to be someone who wasn't actually associated with the development because the more I've looked at the game and read up on it, the more interested I am in wanting to play it.
But I don't wanna support a project with someone like that involed. They give Indie devs a bad name and it can seriously impact a game's success. I've said this a few times, but hopefully it's just a PR guy with no social skills that they can sweep aside.
The biggest clicker is when you see how friendly the other people working on the game seem to be. Their interesting Prototype Review even specifically mentions drawing inspiration from Super Meat Boy, so why the hell would anyone associated with Mech 6 Games be upset when someone says it reminds them of another game?
