Night time was nice. The cool air and generally quiet let streets made it Forte’s favourite time for walks. She didn’t wander far most nights, simply wandering around the empty properties near the apartments where she could have peace and time to gather her thoughts, as it was often easier without her brother around. She loved him dearly, but his inability to keep anything secret was more than often troublesome.
She was walking the edge of one of the empty plots when she saw something further into the property. From the colour of the light it certainly wasn’t a flame, so she could only assume someone was practicing magic. It was probably just a reckless teen, since nobody in their right mind would be playing with magic so openly within the city, but she felt obliged to investigate anyway.
Getting closer to the source of the magic, she could see a little clearer who the caster was. It was a woman but she didn’t look to be in her teens, and the magic didn’t look like she was experimenting with basic spells: whatever it was, it was more advanced than Forte’s own limited knowledge of magic. She rested her hand over the hilt of her sword - the spell concealing that was definitely poor in comparison to what she was seeing - more for her own comfort than any real belief she was about to get in a fight.
“Excuse me, I don’t think you should be doing that here,” she called out when she was perhaps two metres away, not wanting to bring attention to them by being any louder. This was going to be an interesting night.
