I havent watched the episode yet and Im seriously considering just not.
I haven't watched Game of Thrones yet this season and I sort of fell out of watching it last season. Season 1 was pretty much flawless and Season 2 was pretty good, but the more D&D deviate from canon, the more clear it becomes what ... (less-than?) average writers they are and how deeply they fall into tropes and cliches. They go for shock value over truly compelling storytelling, in my opinion. And I just don't waste my time on that these days. I mean, when I think Pretty Little Liars does better storytelling than a show on HBO, you have a problem.
When you have shows out there like Orphan Black and the Borgias and Battlestar Galactica, don't serve up stuff like rape-as-plot-points, gratuitous and ridiculous one-sided nudity, white-washing of purposefully-grey characters, and a complete glossing over female perspectives, and expect me to fall all over myself praising it.
Maybe I'm in an extraordinarily pissy mood because of finals and law school, but I'm just #over it.
