Inspiration Behind Ashe

Anyways, I wanted to ask about Ashe, and the inspirations for her character. There seems to be quite a lot of celtic roots there, from her name to her song and to her bindings (I remember what you said on twitter about it being celtic knot inspired, which sounds really awesome). I wanted to know if you’d maybe share some of what helped you think of her character, if it’s not spoilery or anything. (snipped.)

(Faust here!) You’re definitely right about the Celts and Celtic myth/culture being a huge inspiration for Ashe!  I don’t want to give away too much of it, just in case it might end up relating to something we plan on doing in Thrilling Intent. BUT! I will gladly tell you that a big part of what inspired Ashe was the Tuatha dé Danann and the daoine sìth.  Also, the name Aesling is just a really teensy twist on Aisling, which is a type of vision poem/dream poem.

Well, okay, while I can’t give SPECIFICS, I can totally direct you to two resources that definitely played a part in what inspired Ashe. http://irishhistory.libsyn.com/ Really cool podcast that, like it says on the tin, details irish history. It’s a good listen! The Second, is a book called the Element Encyclopedia of the Celts. It’s basically a glossary of mythological figures and locations. While it doesn’t get too deeply in to some of them, it at least gives you the names so you can search for them online. (snipped) All the Best, Faust

Also aaaaah, it did get lost in the shuffle! Sorry! What's shown of the bar on the map is more or less how the bar is! It's pretty small...though it might be getting additions in the future! As for living arrangements, I don't want to speak for the others, but Ashe may or may not have built herself something of a one room home in the carved out center of one of the bigger trees on the shrouded isles. But don't tell that to Markus...or Kier...or Gregor...You know what, just sshssshh in general about that one. Ashe likes her peace and quiet sometimes, and those boys are a loud bunch.

If we’re privy to this information in terms of spoilers and secrets and whatnot, of course. But, after some discussion and debate, we’d like to know how long Ashe worked at Meadshire for. Based on her lack of knowledge on tax day and some comments earlier in the series, we’re guessing less than a year (probably less than 10 months) but more than six. Due to it’s multi-part nature, we’re wondering where the halloween special sits on the timeline. Is it occurring in linear with the surrounding eps possibly before Deck of Disaster or at some other point in time? This one may be more subject to the spoiler / you’ll find out later rule, but E. wants to know how long Ashe has been away from Meathe for. And I’m still deathly curious about any significance of the Blue Coat & Shield person from the Outriders if you care to tell? Thanks for the awesomeness as always.

Okay! I might be a little vague here and there, but I’ll give out what I can! So, you’re all basically on the money, as far as sleuthing out how long Ashe has been working for Meadshire. For the Halloween EP, it actually takes place AFTER Wizard High School. Kinda weird, but that’s where it sits on the Timeline. Now as far as Ashe’s time away from Meathe, it’s been a year and some change. Lastly! But certainly not least! There is definitely significance to the person in the Blue Coat, buuut…I can’t give out anything more on that one. Sorry! All the Best, Faust
