Sum of All The Rage and Hate
The skies above the Hinterlands rippled and split. The blasted, fel-twisted homeworld of the Burning Legion appeared overhead. Karrista let the glass of tea drop from her hand as she stood up in shock. "Tara'lena!!!" She cried out with a loud scream. She moved down the stairs off her patio, her breathing picking up. "Malura, are you still there?” With a rushed voice clear with panic, she clutched the small communication stone in her hand.
Malura's voice sounded refocused. "Yes. Are you alright?"
The site of Argus in Azeroth's sky hardened Karrista, filling her with a righteous anger. "Get to a window...we have bigger things to worry about..." She took Tara'lena's hand as her mate approached with a look of fear and worry.
"Argus.” Mal said sighing. "I saw it."
Karrista growled softly as she clutched the stone in her free hand tightly, talons clicking against it. "The homeworld of the Legion. This close. This is going to be an ugly fight." Her eyes turned from the demon-world and met with Tara'lena's
Malura's tiny voice from the stone pulled her attention back. "It will. Fuck. It's like when things start to look up, suddenly, death from above."
"You're not quitting on me are you Mal?" Karrista's lips curled up in a familiar and playful grin. With her back to Tara'lena, she leaned into the Darkfallen's hugging embrace.
The tiny voice sounded exhausted. "When do I have time to quit?"
A soft laugh escaped Karrista as she thought of all she had been through the last couple of weeks. "Good. Because if I can keep going, you can too. And this time we're going to win."
Mal let out a light huff. "You keep on your toes. I don't know what Garren is feeling, but it's probably not good."
Karrista's response was delayed as she thought about Garren, and the others she had met. A squeeze from Tara'lena's arms and a fel flare overhead brought a possessive and protective growl from Karrista. "I'll see you on the battlefield. Take care of the Keep." She broke the link with the stone, tucking it in her pocket. She placed the hand not on Tara'lena's arms over her swollen belly, attempting to soothe the unborn Evangeline within.
Tara'lena's voice reflected her fear and uncertainty. "What are we going to do my Sun and Soul?" Her eyes locked on the demon-world. "We are going to run?"
Karrista paused and stepped away, pulling free of Tara'lena's arms. She turned to fix the Darkfallen with a hard, confident expression. She put both arms around her belly. "No, not with Evangeline, not now."
"We would be protecting her." Tara'lena's worry slipped into her words, she took a half step towards Karrista.
"I will not sacrifice Azeroth." Karrista took a step back and shook her head at Tara'lena. "No. We've made too many compromises already. Too many retreats. They invade our world and we fall back. They consume entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again! The line must be drawn here! This far! No further! And we will make them pay for what they've done!"
Here’s another little baby drop of “Hell’s Heart” sketchbook content. I’ve got...kind of a backlog now that I’ve realized I wasn’t posting any of this stuff here.
You can tell in the first comic especially that I was still working out exactly what Hector’s normal guy face was going to look like. His mask is slightly different now than it was in that first drawing too!
