THE HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO YOU DEAREST V may you always drive Ol*ver crazy and brighten up our dashes with your presence 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
thank you beloved, I'm always so happy whenever I get to interact with you ALTHOUGH! AT TIMES! your big big brain leaves me in shambles!!! wouldn't have it any other way though.......................
what amazing timing then for me to hop in here and tell you about the book i just finished: Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. If you just want another book rec stop reading here
because what I really want to talk to you about is Oliver who's just too good to be true. Too handsome, too sociable, too famous to be anything more than a story you'll tell your children one day. "We dated once, you know?" (He was mine, for one summer). You can see it now, hear yourself reliving this moment years and years in the future. You'd tell them about the orchard he took you to, how he fell in love with the farm of an uncle of an acquaintance of a friend. (You'd have to leave out the sex though. Which really would cut the story quite short).
You imagined they wouldn't believe you, at first. "Yeah right, mom. You dated THE Oliver Aiku. For sure." They would be right to doubt you, you sometimes still doubted yourself. But with him sleeping next to you and the weight of his arm anchoring you to his chest, he felt too real to be merely a dream.
You'd just have to collect enough fragments of him to take him with you into the future. Keep this summer alive even after the warmth has faded and the seasons moved on.
(So what fragments would you save for yourself, dear V? Not that you'd have to because he'd be a fool to let you go and Oliver Aiku might be an idiot but he is not stupid.)
selfishly kept this to myself for a few days because it is just that beautiful!!!!! outstanding talent I fear!!!!!!!! and it also made me all warm and fuzzy inside :( incredible truly. the feelings you evoked OUGHHH it's all so hopeful filled with so much love and perfectly bittersweet!!!
I think if this was me I guess I'd try to keep all the fragments I could fit in my heart... the taste of the summer fruits we'd share and how we'd pick the first apples from the orchard, all the humid summer nights spent together, how his eyes would look beneath the moonlight and his smile would reflect the sun, what being close to him felt like and all the emotions his touch elicited the first time I'd admit I liked him the moment it all stopped feeling like an entertaining dream and roots I didn't even realize were already growing deep inside me made the most beautiful authentic flowers bloom in my throat
i binged severance season 1 for 10 hours
