I know Acosta sucks and is annoying but that's because she's supposed to be. Like her character is meant to be a rigid, type-a counterpoint to Boyd's rapidly eroding ethics/sanity.
Also shoutout to Samantha Brown who plays Acosta. You can really see the fear in her eyes, behind the tough front. Especially in that scene where Donna calls her out for brandishing her emotional support gun. Great performance.
