My Unique Story
Writing blogs for The CP Diary, was the start of the process of me coming to terms with my experiences. Writing my book Cerebral Palsy: ‘A Story’ was the other part of the process. Up until that point, I didn’t understand what my disability meant in any detail, what my symptoms were, or how I presented.
Finding out about my disability at the age of 46, and writing about my experiences in a self-contained place, so I could finally come to terms with everything that’s happened, makes ‘my story’, unique. Also, writing my ‘story’ from a universal perspective, makes my book original and unique.
I have had to work hard at piecing my experiences and my life together. I needed to understand how I presented, and for others to understand me.
It is important I am able to rationale and understand my life and that is what my book does. Through a difficult life, it has taken me through the healing process, allowing me to put some of those demons to rest.
It doesn’t matter what I deal with, it is because my book is universal that we can all relate to what I write. Writing from a universal standpoint, I have been told my book changes the way we perceive our lives.
