1) i have tried wet n wild's cherry bomb, nars' damned, maybelline's smokin' red, and a couple of l'oreal infallible pro lasts, and all are just. pink 2) i'm cooler toned?? maybe that's why?? 3) under $25 4) i kinda love you right now

I’m one of those weird cool undertone people who wears gold all the time, but I nevertheless feel your pale pain. when your skin has that wintery quality and you’re trying for oxblood, you need to head for more brown than red, always, otherwise you’re going to end up with more of a purple-red situation, which isn’t what you’re going for. my recommendations: 

studded kiss - mac

sin - mac

dubonnet - mac

merlot - besame (as recc-ed by @and-not-to-yield)

black cherry - revlon 

all of these are under $25, with the black cherry coming in cheapest at like $10. an anon sent an ask advising mac’s film noir, but that comes out brown-brown on me, so I’d make sure to look at plenty of swatches. let me know how it goes!
