I realized today that coming home without being mugged, or having a gas tank explode mid-refill, and not having an awkward conversation in the jeep ride is reason enough to be happy =))

kasi nung isang gabi, habang naglalakad, may nakasulubong kame na batang babae na nagtitinda ng kandila. "ate, bili na kayo. pambaon lang po" sabi niya. pero since hindi naman kame papunta sa Fort Pilar, hindi kame bumili. nag sorry ako. sabi ko Sunday nalang. akala ko kukulitin parin niya ko para bumili pero nagulat ako nung sinabi niyang "sige ate, kahit ballpen nalang para magamit ko sa school." grabe. naawa ako sobra. naghanap ako ng ballpen pero wala akong mahanap. buti nalang may dalang extra si scepter, siya ang namigay. hanga ako sa batang yun. desididong mag-aral. bihira nalang tayo makahanap ng tulad niya. hanga ako sayo, bata. pagpatuloy mo lang yan. inspirasyon ka para sa mga tulad ko na tamad. sana lang makaktulong sayo ang ballpen. gamitin mo ah? may magic. dahil diyan, nakikita ko na na magiging CPA ka someday. wee.

Update on my room, a long, boring post.

So I already purchased my 4 galon can of awesome red paint for my walls. I like the hue 'coz it's a gloomy kind of red (ironically the paint name is "Happy Red"). But anyway..

I also bought  half a galon of black and silver paint that I'll be using to draw on the wall with. Again, inspired by Peyton Sawyer's room.

So to track my expenses for this room project, so far it's been (in Philippine dollars pesos) :

781 (red and black paint)

54 (silver paint)

17.75 (paint tray)

24.50 (paint roller)

24 (paint brush)

I didn't really spend for the cleaning of the walls because rags and sand paper and what not were available at home.

And as of last night, I've already gave one of the walls a couple of coats of awesome red paint, and it looks terrible so far. Haha. I still intend to give it another coat to cover up the horrid paint job and to give it a sheer look before I start paining in the black and silver art work.

I've yet to decide if I were to paint the entire room red, or use another color for the other walls. I want it to be a super awesome red room but I'm not sure if I want it to be overwhelming. I think. Maybe. I dunno.

I'll think it over as I continue to torment my arms scrubbing the walls to it's purity.

Anyway, after I bought the paint and brushes and what not, I decided to go through town and check out the other stuff I intend to buy. And so far, I've checked out (again, in Philippine pesos) :

6-outlet extension wire (is that even the right term) for 745

5-outlet extension wire for 695 (so yeah, I think I'll get the 6 when I can)

Fluorescent lights (to replace the one and only light bulb that lights up the entire room) for 280 each.. And I intend to get three. Maybe.

Additional, but unnecessary lighting for 680 each. It's so unnecessary that I don't think I'm ever going to buy them, especially at that price.

L-brackets (see below for why) for 34.50 a pair

Door handles (I'll need four) for 32 each

Door hinge (Yes, my room needs a lot of work, even the door of the clothes cabinet is falling off) --it varies, but there are some ranging from 12-50 pesos, depending on the size, which I have to re-check.

Also, as part of my vision, I intend to install shelves on the room (more space to put my junk). So I went and asked a few lumber and wood work shops to give me an estimate if I would have them make me a few shelves (and I mean just the wood planks, not an entire shelving unit. Just the wooden planks, cut and sanded out, and I'd be the one to install them in my room with L-brackets)..

So far, for four shelves (that'd be about an inch thick, 10 inches wide, and 2 feet long).. One dude who looked like I was wasting his time gave me a P400 estimate. Another, a lady careful not to get varnish all over myself gave me a p650 estimate. Lastly, one dude who looked really sleepy said they'd be willing to do it for P500.

What the fuck lady-careful-not-to-get-varnish-all-over-myself. Y u so expensive?

Anyway, on my way home, I decided to pass by the lumber shop in our village and ask them for an estimate. Lo and behold, using lumber (and not just plywood), the nearly-toothless man gave me a just-as-awesome-as-red-paint price of P280. Fuckyeah.

So that'd be my next project to save for after I paint the room.

After painting the walls, too, my next agenda is to re-do the electrical stuff. Oh, rather, review the way to change a power outlet and rewiring switches. I'm not so keen in getting electrocuted before I get to use my room. After reviewing, I'd start changing the power outlet and rewire the light switch.

Whew. A long way to go to get my room as close to my vision as possible.
