Jin was by no means unaware of the things that went on in the base, or what her friends did when they were away. She didn't like it, but she understood why they felt they had to fight. Her personal discomfort was just that, personal, and not brought up outside of the occasional debate. It would do no good, not while their enemies existed.
Because they knew she disliked it, and because she was a noncombatant, her friends usually made sure she stayed out of the hanger when they returned, especially when BT needed to be cleaned after a particularly bloody battle. It was never a pretty sight, they said, even if you were used to war. Jin believed them, and kept away even as she progressed in her training in the medical wing. Fixing injuries somehow made the blood easier to handle.
So much easier that the warnings slipped her mind, when she heard they'd returned. It had been a long mission, and those were always worrying, so she just wanted to check on them. She simply forgot, until she saw BT.

She stopped. Her core still ticked away, as steadily as ever, but the movements coming out of it were no more than twitches, arrested motions with nowhere to go. The medical bag she was holding dropped from her fingers, but she didn't move to catch it.
