I’d say it’s the most important meal of the day, as there is no way to skip breakfast if you eat in a day.

Despite being labeled as a morning meal you can have breakfast at any time unlike lunch or dinner which are more so categorized by the time. This is because breakfast is simply breaking your fast, hence the name.

The fast in question is usually referring to the hours between your evening meal and your morning meal the next day. This is why it’s associated with being a morning meal, but your lunch can easily also be your breakfast if you do not eat a morning meal.

To avoid breakfast would be to avoid food entirely so I would say it’s very important.
