Linktober Day 10 - Shadow Version Depths
Went for some ink technique here, I don´t often use lineart for landscape art. So it´s special in a way :) Painted in ClipStudioPaint.
The Frox’s lungs are finally spent. The wind stops abruptly and a glowing eye rolls forward in the dark above Link’s head. Scales painted with dim orange phosphorus and mounds of sparking zonaite pepper the void behind the eye, giving the monster a shape in the shadows. It’s massive. A moving hillside. An Obsidian Frox.
Some concept art for chapter 9 of the depths - the big frox fight. I might come back and color this eventually.
I just think that, when the Blood Moon rises, Ganon gently picks up each defeated creature and tells it what a good job it's doing.
Link tore off his hood and threw his hair back messily. I need to focus. He could barely see. The darkness was crushing, everywhere. There was just enough to see the frox on the other side of the monument, thanks to the poes and the light on the pedestal. It wasn't very intelligent, although it had knocked him out of the sky when he'd first descended. All this, for a picture of a tablet?
He raced for cover, ducking behind the monument. The frox grumbled in frustration at having lost its target. Link felt it shift directions, its massive weight shaking the earth as it turned around to come back his way.
Link quietly took a breath, cursing as its slimy paws came into view. As quickly and quietly as he could, he edged around to the other side. The frox almost seemed to follow him, dangerously close to spotting him. He paused around the first corner, hoping it would stop or go the other way.
It didn't.
Link snuck around another corner as the frox stomped by, keeping his eyes on his opponent and his hand ready to grab his spear. The frox seemed to have forgotten its reasoning for being so far for its lair. It gave one final, decisive sniff and then trudged back toward its territory, disappearing into the darkness.
When the heavy footsteps faded completely, Link ever so slowly peered around the corner, squinting to try and make out its shape in the dark. There, in the distance, he could just barely make out its glowing back. Link fell back against the wall, breathing a sigh of relief. After giving himself a half moment to breathe, he pulled the Purah Pad off his belt and got to work before the frox noticed him again.
I'm not quite sure what this is-- a one-shot? Drabble? This happened to me the other night and I just felt like I had to write something to go with it. :/
Linktober Shadow Day 1: Forest
No yiga or frox were harmed in the making of this shot.
Laios would you eat a frox like you did the red dragon?
