Various frozen waffle products sold in Canada and the U.S. have been recalled after testing revealed possible listeria bacteria contamination at a manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ont. TreeHouse Foods, a multinational food-processing company, announced the voluntary recall of hundreds of its frozen waffle products on Friday. TreeHouse Foods did not say what stores in Canada were affected, however, the waffle products listed on the recall website include Walmart’s Great Value brand, sold at Walmart stores in Canada; Metro’s Selection brand, sold at Food Basics and Metro grocery stores; Sobeys Inc.’s Compliments brand, sold at Foodland, Sobeys, and Fresh Co stores; and Loblaws’ No Name brand, sold at No Frills stores. TreeHouse Foods said in a press release there have been no illnesses linked to the recalled products to date.

The recall includes various certain frozen waffles sold in Walmart, Target, Publix and other stores. Some waffles for brands like Kodiak Cak

Treehouse Foods, an Illinois-based manufacturer, is recalling a flurry of its frozen waffles that were sold at major supermarket chains due to listeria contamination concerns. The company is behind dozens of various store brand frozen waffles sold at Walmart, Target, Harris Teeter, Publix, Food Lion, Tops and more. The manufacturer also produces frozen waffles for brands like Kodiak Cakes, Simple Truth and Foodhold. On Friday, TreeHouse Foods said it was voluntarily recalling some of its frozen waffle products after routine testing at one of its manufacturing facilities identified a potential listeria contamination. There have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the frozen waffle items so far, the company added.

Apple Pie Flavoured Frozen Waffles

This is my first recipe, so let's start off with something weird I came up with as an experiment this morning and ended up loving so much I was inspired to make this blog. I made it with the last pair of waffles and intentionally over-toasted them for extra crispiness.

Ingredients (per waffle):

frozen waffle (I used Eggo)

1 tsp softened butter

2 tsp apple jelly

½ tsp honey (or to taste, optional)

½ tsp pumpkin pie spice (or cinnamon nutmeg mixture, or to taste)

1 tsp sugar (or to taste)

Prepare waffle(s) as instructed on packaging (or as preferred)

Mix together softened butter, apple jelly, and honey and spread mixture evenly on top of waffle (apple butter may also work as a substitute, though I have not tested)

Sprinkle spice blend and sugar evenly on top of waffle

Let waffle(s) cool per instructions and enjoy ♡

Almond Butter Seed Spread

I mix pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, and chia seeds into smooth organic almond butter. Adding this protein-packed spread to my toasted frozen waffles gives sustained energy throughout the morning. This breakfast is very quick. I even tossed on a few mini vegan chocolate chips and blackberries for fun and sweetness. Also great with a drizzle of maple syrup.
