Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange

It's officially open for sign-ups!!!

The Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange is an exchange where participants write and request fan works based on matching criteria. Each creator will select 3-7 predetermined Frozen ships and 5-10 previously nominated animated movie AUs per ship to create and receive fan works for. There are about 25 ships to choose from and more than 100 AUs.

For example: Kristoff/Anna in a Robin Hood AU or Jack/Elsa in an Alice in Wonderland AU or Elsa/Anna in a Pocahontas AU.

You will only be asked to create a fan work for one of the ships and AUs you select. But you won't find out which one until you get your assignment!

Sign-ups start today and run through Friday, November 4th. Assignments will be delivered on Saturday, November 5th.

Assignments are due December 16th

Anonymous reveals are December 18th

Creator reveals are December 24th

Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange is a fusion exchange which sets Frozen characters in animated movie fusion AUs.

Please go to the nominations page at AO3 to select up to 10 AUs you might want to write/draw or read/see.

I've already entered 24 romantic and platonic relationship possibilities, so please take a look at the list and DM me if there's any I missed!

Otherwise, have at and go hog wild with your AUs!!! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Nominations close on October 27th, and sign-ups begin on October 28th. You do not need to sign up if you nominate, and you don't need to nominate to sign up.

Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange! FAQs & Save the Date

What is the Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange? It's a Frozen fandom event where participants offer to write or create fan art based on prompts requested by other participants. Each fan work will be based on one pairing involving a romantic or platonic relationship between Frozen characters. Each fan work will be set in a fusion AU from an animated film that isn't Frozen. For example: Kristoff/Anna set in AU - Trolls Fusion, rated E; Elsa/Anna set in AU - Mulan Fusion, rated M; Elsa/Jack Frost set in AU - Peter Pan Fusion, rated T; or Kristoff & Sven set in AU - Toy Story Fusion, rated G.

How does the matching work? Everyone pick romantic (Character A/Character B) and/or platonic (Character A & Character B) pairings, fusion AUs to go with each pairing, and however many ratings they want to receive fic or art for (G, T, M, E, or any). Creators will be randomly matched to recipients who match at least one pairing, AU, and rating.

What are nominations? Since there are endless scores of possible ships and AUs, we need to narrow down the field so it will be easier to match. To do this, we'll have a nomination period where people interested in participating can enter up to 5 ships and up to 10 AUs they might want to create or receive a fan work for. Only the ships and AUs that get nominated will be available when you sign up for the challenge. That's why it's important to get your nominations in even if you don't think you'll be participating in the challenge. You can also message me and let me know which ones you want.

When's it due? There are several phases to complete the challenge. Here's the schedule:

10/14 - 10/27 - nominations period

10/28 - 11/7 sign-ups open - you can make your requests and offers using any of the nominated ships and AUs

11/8 - assignments get emailed to participants

12/16 - assignments due - meaning works must be posted by this date, but you have until anonymous reveals to edit

12/18 - anonymous reveals (Happy Hanukkah!) - meaning you won't know who your creator is when you receive your gift. This gives you a chance to comment without bias.

12/25 - creator reveals (Merry Christmas!) - meaning you'll find out who created your fan work.

I hope to see a lot of people participate! The more people, the more fun, and the easier the matching will be. This is open to all Frozen fans and all Frozen ships, and those that might want to dabble.

Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange 2022

It's official!!! Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange is a thing!

For this exchange, each participant will write a fanfic or make fan art using Frozen characters in other Disney/Dreamworks/Pixar animated films.

Ships should include at least one Frozen character, and may be romantic (Kristoff/Anna) or platonic (Kristoff & Anna). Threesomes/poly relationships are allowed, as are relationships involving one or more gender bend or trans characters. All ships are welcome in this challenge! (If you don't want to write or read a particular ship, don't select it as an option.)

Matching will be based on Frozen ship, fusion AU, and rating.

Schedule (Tentative):

TBD (September/October) - Nomination period (select ships and AUs to be included in drop down menus)

November 1st - Sign-up period begins

November 11th - Sign-up period closes

November 12th - Assignments sent out

December 16th - Assignments due (must be posted to the collection, but you can edit up to anonymous reveals, if needed)

December 25th - Anonymous work reveals (must comment on your gift in this period)

December 31st - Creator reveals (creators will not be revealed until all gift recipients have commented on their gifts)

Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange

I know it's still August, and we've got Kristanna Halloween coming up, but is anyone interested in a Yuletide gift exchange this year? I'd try to get assignments out as soon as possible after Halloween so people have plenty of time for writing. As of right now, I'm thinking Kristanna (and maybe other Frozen ships) in another Disney or animated movie AU. So people would be matched on the AU (ex., Robin Hood, Toy Story, Cinderella, etc.) and ratings (and Frozen ship, if we include more than Kristanna). Let me know if you're interested and I'll start planning it. I think we'll need at least 4-5 people interested to make it worth it. I'd open up the challenge in late October, with assignments sent out no later than the first week of November so participants would have at least a month to work on their gifts. Also let me know if you would prefer assignments to go out earlier. I didn't want to get in the way of the Halloween event.
