Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange! FAQs & Save the Date
What is the Frozen Yuletide Gift Exchange? It's a Frozen fandom event where participants offer to write or create fan art based on prompts requested by other participants. Each fan work will be based on one pairing involving a romantic or platonic relationship between Frozen characters. Each fan work will be set in a fusion AU from an animated film that isn't Frozen. For example: Kristoff/Anna set in AU - Trolls Fusion, rated E; Elsa/Anna set in AU - Mulan Fusion, rated M; Elsa/Jack Frost set in AU - Peter Pan Fusion, rated T; or Kristoff & Sven set in AU - Toy Story Fusion, rated G.
How does the matching work? Everyone pick romantic (Character A/Character B) and/or platonic (Character A & Character B) pairings, fusion AUs to go with each pairing, and however many ratings they want to receive fic or art for (G, T, M, E, or any). Creators will be randomly matched to recipients who match at least one pairing, AU, and rating.
What are nominations? Since there are endless scores of possible ships and AUs, we need to narrow down the field so it will be easier to match. To do this, we'll have a nomination period where people interested in participating can enter up to 5 ships and up to 10 AUs they might want to create or receive a fan work for. Only the ships and AUs that get nominated will be available when you sign up for the challenge. That's why it's important to get your nominations in even if you don't think you'll be participating in the challenge. You can also message me and let me know which ones you want.
When's it due? There are several phases to complete the challenge. Here's the schedule:
10/14 - 10/27 - nominations period
10/28 - 11/7 sign-ups open - you can make your requests and offers using any of the nominated ships and AUs
11/8 - assignments get emailed to participants
12/16 - assignments due - meaning works must be posted by this date, but you have until anonymous reveals to edit
12/18 - anonymous reveals (Happy Hanukkah!) - meaning you won't know who your creator is when you receive your gift. This gives you a chance to comment without bias.
12/25 - creator reveals (Merry Christmas!) - meaning you'll find out who created your fan work.
I hope to see a lot of people participate! The more people, the more fun, and the easier the matching will be. This is open to all Frozen fans and all Frozen ships, and those that might want to dabble.
