Hanahaki syndrome: respiratory disease, typically inherited, where the body produces flowers from the respiratory system in times of great emotion towards another person (generally love of some form, be it joyful or painful, romantic or platonic). Also called “the soulmate syndrome”.

Frank Iero has this disorder (because of course he does) and somehow, almost nothing changes. From Pencey Prep to L.S. Dunes, only the flowers are constant. The flowers, and all the things they represent.

I opened a doc for an idea for a fic about Frank having soulmate hanahaki on the 7th of December 2022. It was going to be a short thing set almost entirely during the reunion tour. Then it just didn’t stop and turned into an epic rewrite of canon, twenty chapters spanning twenty years. Over the past month I’ve been posting, one day at a time, and now it’s all here, in the form I prefer it. I hope you read it. I hope you like it. I hope you come talk to me about it.
