Turn up the HEAT!!! The season's first batch of dehydrated Super Chili Peppers are out and being powdered into enough super-hot goodness for cooking and first aid. I have 3 pints of powder so far. Some will be vacuum sealed in mesh sided Mylar for extreme long-term storage and transport, some in jars, and some for my cabinet. These are so easy to grow and when you compare it to $5.99 for the organic equivalent of a 2.89 oz jar...YIKES! That is $2.07 per oz for something That practically grows itself in our zone 8a. I'll leave out the fancy math but a dry pint is about 18.62 fluid oz. With almost no work, I made over $334 worth of chili powder. So, for those who poo poo my efforts as time and labor intensive, I like to point out both the monetary rewards and the nutritional rewards of knowing what goes into my food. #HomesteaderNextDoor #ContribuSteading #growyourownfood #frugality #frugalite #chilipowder #chilipeppers https://www.instagram.com/p/CFjGarsjhId/?igshid=bps2ywhy236f
