i decided to start trying new fruits recently so here’s some reviews:
gold kiwi- tasty! maybe not quite worth the premium price but I definitely enjoyed it. the one I had completely lacked the tartness of a regular kiwi.
hachiya persimmon- pleasantly funky, but basically goop when properly ripe. could make an interesting topper for baked goods. the flavor is nice but I might prefer fuyu persimmons which are meant to be eaten firm. i’d like to try them dried too.
golden gooseberries- kind of fascinating. sticky outside, with a texture and acidity like a cherry tomato. quite fragrant too. probably not something I’ll go for again soon but would make an interesting salad mix-in
yellow dragonfruit- mild and sweet with crispy-crunchy seeds that make for a texture I’m not a huge fan of but is definitely unique. DON’T EAT A WHOLE ONE. i ended up being fine because i’m a high fiber warrior but it most definitely moved things along quicker than usual lmao. probably won’t seek it out again.
dried dates- not for me as-is. i was disappointed because a lot of people seem to really like them, but i lack the vocabulary for what I was dissatisfied with. probably good as a baking mix-in tho.
black plum, yellow flesh- underwhelming. good texture but not much flavor. i much prefer red plums.
starfruit- refreshing crunchy texture, mild flavor, very juicy. quite cute when sliced. didn’t find this out until later but they can have drug interactions similar to grapefruit so be careful! if it weren’t for that i might want to have it again. sad!
hmu if you have recommendations!
