Simmons saying she’s pregnant to Daisy and asking her to be the godmother :) love your writing!!
Went just a slightly different direction but still, hope you like it.
It was the pre-dawn hours before Daisy finally made it back to the Lighthouse. She had been out with Piper and Davis on yet another recruiting mission when the call came in. After they’d returned from rescuing Fitz from Cryo Mack had wanted to build the ranks again.
She’d bid goodnight to the other agents who wearily headed for their bunks, and though exhausted herself, sleep was the last thing on Daisy’s mind as she jogged through the empty hallways until she got to what had become the Medical Wing of the Lighthouse.
It wasn’t hard to find which room was the one she was looking for, colored streamers and balloons all around the door with a large “Congratulations” banner over the door.
Daisy quietly knocked on the door and peered inside for as excited as she was she didn’t want to wake the occupants if they were sleeping.
A soft “Come in,” bringing another smile to her face.
Like the door outside, the inside of the room was full of blue colored balloons, streamers, piles of gifts, and even a few arrangements of flowers that brought light to the windowless room.
“Daisy,” Jemma said warmly from the bed, a small bundle snuggled in her arms. And though she looked exhausted, Jemma was positively glowing with happiness.
Across the room, two figures were slumped leaning against one another on the couch. Deke and Fitz fast asleep, a stuffed money tucked between them and even in sleep the smallest of smiles were playing on their faces. Turns out second time was the charm with Grandfather and Grandson with Fitz immediately taking a shine to their guest from the future.
Daisy couldn’t contain the quiet squeal, dropping her own bags of gifts to the floor and running to her friend’s side and pulling her carefully into a hug.
As he pulled back Jemma slid over on the bed just enough for Daisy to be able to sit on the bed and once she was settled she shifted the baby into her harms.
“Daisy,” Jemma said tenderly running her finger along a tiny cheek. “I would like to introduce you to James Philip Fitzsimmons.”
Daisy felt tears well at the name, it had been less than a year since Coulson had passed away, Jemma discovering she was pregnant shortly after they had begun looking for Fitz.
“He would have loved it, loved him,” Daisy said.
“That is what May said when we asked her if it was okay,” Jemma said her eyes never leaving her son.
The friends sat for a few minutes, simply enjoying being together with the baby, the silence only cut by the gentle snores of the boys on the couch.
It was when Jemma was unable to stifle a yawn Daisy decided she needed to wrap the visit up and let Jemma get some much-needed rest.
“Okay Little Man,” Daisy said carefully getting off the bed and laying him in the bassinet next to it. “Let’s get you all settled in so Mum can get some sleep. If you are anything like your Daddy you’ll be hungry in no time.”
James only stirred slightly when Daisy put him down and the Inhuman then turned her attention to Jemma as she settled back into the pillows.
“I’ll be back first thing in the morning before anyone else can get him but is there anything I can do for you before I go?” Daisy asked.
“Actually yes,” Jemma said reaching her hand out to Daisy’s which she took readily. “Fitz and I were hoping you would do us the honor of being James’s Godmother.”
This time the tears fell unhindered and Daisy pulled Jemma into a hug. “Of course I will!” she said forgetting for a moment the late hour and her cry started Fitz and Deke from their own slumbers.
“I take it she said yes,” Fitz said sleepily as he appeared at the side of the bed where Daisy pulled him into her hug with Jemma.
“Yes!” Daisy squealed again turning to look at James who had also awakened with the commotion, his bright blue eyes studying her intently already. “Oh, Little Man I’m going to spoil you so rotten!”
Deke scooped the baby up before he could start to fuss. “You can spoil him all you want, but just remember, I’m going to be the favorite Godparent.”
