[ EVENT #2] : b e l l u m (Phase 1)

The decision had been made. Those who chose to battle would advance towards near certain death. Those who chose not to would stay behind, leaving their fate in the hands of the brave few. The barrier surrounding Utopia continued to waver, seemingly crumbling from the very top. Slowly, but surely, the distortions were beginning to overpower the GRAIL itself. If left alone, the barrier would fade and the horrors that lurked outside would come to ravage everything.
Masters and Servants stood by, their Triplicata flashing as a new function had been implemented into it. A means of long distance travel between locations. In short, teleportation. Using this, they could leave the confines of the barrier and head towards their destination. However, before they could do so, the voice rang through their ears once again. This time, offering a warning.
“While within Utopia, the GRAIL has offered you all several boons to ensure that you all live your life to the fullest. This also entails a form of resurrection. Even if you were to be killed within Utopia, the GRAIL would return you to this world. However, this is due to the GRAIL’s influence. And as I stated before, the outside world rejects it. As such..”
Those who died outside of Utopia would experience true death. The GRAIL would be unable to revive them, unless they succeeded in dispelling the distortion. Even maintaining communication with the Servants would prove difficult. As such, they would have to steel their resolves and acknowledge the fact that they may never return if they fail.
The Triplicata flashes once more. This time, it’s light far more intense than before. As the blending light envelops all within the vicinity, a feeling of vertigo overcomes them. Despite not having moved a step, everything feels as though it is shifting past them at tremendous speed. And ahead of them, a hole in the light. A doorway of sorts. It closed in rapidly, spreading out as if to envelop them before..
----Location: Britain, Unknown
It was as though they were suddenly thrust into the distant past. The smell of blood and burnt flesh reach their noses. The clanging of steel reach their ears. The sight of thousands upon thousands engaged in a bloody war. A war against whom? There were no visible banners to display allegiances to any sides. In a way, it seemed to be a war between countrymen and nothing more. Brother slayed brother mercilessly as their cries of anguish and rage fill the air. But something is amiss. Those who were slain would rise once more. Those who had been burnt to cinders would rise from the ashes. They would take up their weapons once more. They would fight to the death once again. Only to rise and repeat the process.
This was wrong. Something was clearly amiss. This was clearly a Distortion upon reality. Common sense held no meaning here. However, the sounds of war soon begin to die down. Steel no longer clashed. Footsteps came to an abrupt halt. And the gazes of those who had once been mutilating one another shifted away from each other.. And towards those who had intruded upon this domain.
Intruders
Those who did not belong in this world.
Enemies
Those who would take it all away.
Death
To those who would get in their way. This world would not end. This world could not end. This war would never end.
Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end. Never end.
They charge to protect ____. Their weapons brandished. Their eyes filled with bloodlust. They moved unlike humans. Almost as though they were.. Servants. Thus, the first war for the fate of mankind began. On a battlefield devoid of saints and sinners.
----------------------------------------------------
Welcome to FSL’s second event and the first of many lore based events! This is Bellum, an event where Masters and Servants must embark on their first true mission together. Though they were not told everything as of yet, they are now aware that their actions may very well save what is left of mankind. You find yourselves in what appears to be the Britain of old, now wrapped up in some form of civil unrest which resulted in an eternal war without reason. Your task? Fight. Survive. This is the first main offensive against a Distortion, so there is no real plan of attack. All you can do is try to bring down their numbers. But don’t worry. Despite them seemingly reviving upon killing each other, the enemy is incapable of reviving if killed by a Servant.
Firstly, this event is not mandatory. You are free to continue simply doing non event interactions if you wish!
This event will be divided into two phases. The second phase will be revealed in time.
As stated in the rules, Servants without Masters are incapable of using their Noble Phantasms. So they’ll have to rely on their other skills to survive.
A large scale battle is taking place. While the exact location is unknown, the place you currently find yourself in is undoubtedly Britain. The current battlefield itself consists of a wide, open plain riddled with bodies of the fallen, scarred patches of land and flames consuming everything. In the distance one could barely make out burning villages, numerous mountains and further still, a castle looming over the hills. Servants who’s legends are based off of English lore will boost in power.
If the enemies were to be classified as Servants, their paramaters would all be D, with some minor boosts depending on the enemy type. As such, they wouldn’t pose that much of a threat against most Servants one on one. However, their sheer numbers could prove to be a problem.
There are three enemy types to be dealt with in the first phase of this event. The first are Light armor Knights. As the name suggests, these Knights wear minimal armor for protection, but this allows them to move with more ease. Fighting multiple of these enemies can be difficult. Light armor Knights wield a number of weapons, ranging from short swords to spears and bows. They also make use of shields to slightly make up for their lesser defenses. The second enemy type are the Heavy armor Knights. While slower than their Light armor counterparts, it is far more difficult to down these Knights due their defenses. While it’s less likely to find them in groups, having multiple of them together could make them formidable shields. As far as their weaponry goes, they arm themselves with Longswords (most notably claymores) and spears. The final enemy type are the Villagers. These enemies are weaker than even low ranked Servants, but are still endowed with superhuman strength and will fight with anything they can get their hands on. Masters are capable of fighting these enemies directly, depending on their level of power. Though for powerless masters, it is still safer to rely on your Servant.
You are free to write drabbles or group threads as well. You do whatever you want your character to be doing!
