The picture in our icon is from a gown made by one of our graduating students last year, her project for the fourth year course Aesthetics of Historical Dress (THEA 4406). The course is a year-long exploration of the cut, construction and creation of women’s clothing of the 18th and 19th centuries, culminating in a skin-out recreation of a period outfit -- underpinnings, accesories and gown.
The time period changes every year, and last year’s project was a celebration of Canada 150 -- gowns that would have been worn in 1867, the year of Confederation.
The end of year gala was held at Government House, the residence of Nova Scotia’s Lt. Governor. The event was a truly cross-FSPA production, music provided by one of FSPA’s fourth year violin students, and the evening MCed by two of our senior acting students. We are so proud of our grads and the incredible work they’ve done over the four years in the program.
