Still lazing away in the sun, the sphinx listened to the man intently. Nodding her head slowly, even as she remained unseen, as he explained the reasoning behind his guess. “I have to commend you on a rather clever answer, traveler.”, she started, still tasting the air. “Unfortunately, it’s insufficient. Though it fits well at an initial glance, the riddle does specifically state that the answer is a product of time, which a pocket watch is not. If anything, it’s a product of people’s need to keep track of time.”
By now the monstrous feline had risen to her feet, stretching in case she needed to reveal herself after all, “Also, within the line, ‘You can find me wherever repetition wanes...’. A pocket watch would never wane or falter in repetition since it’s accuracy is dependent upon the second hand being in perfect rhythm.” The curls of her mane bounced as she shook it out, yawning sharply in the process.
“With all this, would you like to try once more? I’m in a rather lax mood today...”. It was then she addressed the question given with an anxious context, a small smirk hinting at the corner of her lips.
“Fear not, young man. Even if you do happen to get the answer wrong, no harm will come to you. Perhaps a bit of inconvenience may find it’s way to you but it seems to already be here; with you needing to find your way and all.”
