in theory, sharing a flat with someone who worked at the local grocery store would mean never having to worry about running out of things. but when nix stumbled out of bed at 4 in the afternoon and into the kitchen with every intention to make the world's most potent cup of coffee, his plans were foiled by the lack of milk in the fridge. which left him with two choices: he could forgo the milk, or he could text corey and ask him to grab a carton after his shift.
naturally, nix picked the secret third option: getting dressed and heading down to the grocers himself to get the milk. and if he happened to hang around long enough till corey's shift ended and they could go home together, that would be nothing more than a coincidence.
corey was easy enough to spot the moment he stepped into hometown grocers, and nix reminded himself to play it cool as he approached. "we're out of milk," he said in lieu of a proper greeting, before wincing and correcting himself. "sorry, hi. i probably should've started with that."
