her hand is slotted perfectly in between his as she anxiously awaits for the family car to pull up to her childhood home . the flight to new jersey had been quick and easy . it wasn’t until they were traveling through the familiar streets of asbury park that her nerves started to kick in . a whole weekend of the most important people in her life getting to know each other . it was exciting and nerve-wrecking all at the same time . cass wanted things to go perfectly . “we’re supposed to have lunch at 3 . i think my mom was supposed to cook but i imagine that didn’t go that well . so hopefully whatever she bought is yummy because i’m starving ,” she muses . turning her head to look over at her fiancé , she gives his hand a gentle squeeze . “are you nervous or anything ?”

this was truly a ‘pinch me , i’m dreaming ’moment for cass .her feelings for east had manifested early on in their friendship . but after throughly convincing herself that there was no way he’d feel the same , she swore to herself that she’d never ever act on it . though apparently all it took was  2 SHOTS  to have her ignoring that vow and acting on her deepest desires . notoriously a lightweight , cass should not be held accountable for her actions whilst intoxicated ! who would’ve thought she’d end up pulling east into a steamy kiss in the middle of the dance floor for all attendees of the met gala to see ? what a fun little plot twist . and although she was mortified by her actions once she sobered up and thought things through , it ended up working out for the best . here she is , strolling through the new york aquarium with the cutest person she’s ever known . their connected hands swing gently between them . a soft smile stays ever present on her pretty pink lips as she focuses on calming her rapidly beating heart . why was this so nerve-wrecking yet exciting ? why was she so afraid of messing things up ? this was just east for christ sake . no one in the world could make her feel as comfortable and giddy as him . temporarily distracted from her own nerves , all her attention was snatched away by a nearby display tank . “oh my gosh !” she gasps . “e , look ! they have sea turtles !” her enthusiasm’s evident as she uses her free hand to point at the tank . tugging her date along with her , she moves closer to observe her favorite animal . “aren’t they just beautiful ? i always wanted one when i was a kid . but my parents said no ... for good reason . i don’t think six year old me completely understood that i can’t let a sea turtle live in my bathtub .”

to say that things had been tense between ivy and east would be an understatement, their past mistakes haunting them. despite the awkwardness, ivy was determined to not lose him entirely as a friend, somehow finally convincing him to come hang out at her apartment. ❛ hey, eastie ! ❜ she greets him at the door, sounding much more excited than she intended, subtly shaking her head at herself as she steps back to let him in. she doesn’t really know what to say about, well.. everything, so she decides to ignore it entirely, instead turning to him with a devious grin and a proposition, ❛ wanna take a shot with me ? ❜ she needed something to help cut the nervous energy she was feeling.
