jory and gus has been friends since high school and when they graduated they even moved out to the city together, jory to pursue his dream of being a ballet star and gus to pursue his dream of being a comedian. they remained closer than close through all this as their careers both started to slowly but surely to take off. 

there was a little more to it than just friendship though and they’d even acknowledged the feelings a few times. but they always came to the conclusion that their friendship was too important to risk on something that might not work out or ruin it. this didn’t stop them from occasionally sitting far too close to one another when watching a movie, sharing the same bed cause they were ‘too tired’ to get up, or holding hands. they brushed that off though and jory normally always ended the discussion with commenting that he was too busy and focused on his career for a relationship anyways so it didn’t really matter. it was lie though he wanted to try, he didn’t think it’d fail, weren’t they in many ways already dating? they weren’t seeing anyone else, they cared about one another deeply and had no problem being physical with one another. but he was quite certain that gus didn’t want to even risk it which he could understand, so he considered it pointless to wallow too much in it.

as a result he had started flirting with his dance partner melodie. they were already close and he figured he’d have that already present connection between them. plus they were both dancers and everyone who watched them dance already thought they must be an item off stage or encouraged them to become one. it had lead to a few dates, either lunches in between dance practices, a few movie dates at the apartment always when gus out. in some ways it almost felt as if he were having an affair behind gus’s back.

jory was having another one of these dates tonight, the movie had at this point been forgotten, with jory’s focus instead focused on melodie as they made out on the couch. it felt right enough and jory let himself become absorbed in the kiss not hearing the key turning in the lock of the apartment.

         the  studio  is  an  escape  for  scotty.  even  if  they  aren’t  doing  anything  in  particular, scott  liked  to  just  lay  about  with  his  guitar   humming  along   melodies  that  might  never  see  the  light  of  day.   “ yo,”  he  waved  to  the  other  entering  the  room.  “dying  to  get  this  album  out.”  he  remarks,  lazily.

she’s out of breath, the back-bag full with ponderous books aren’t doing her any favour either. the smell coming from the package at hand is enough for her to drop on her knees & devour herself in it, but she surely can make it, right ? just five more minutes - and she will make it. when she’s finally at her destination, nin can’t help herself but feel a little bit proud. “god i’m so sorry,” she yells from the other side of the door, not even sure if he can hear her. gently knocking on it, she continues to talk to him ( or at this point, she’s just talking to herself, she can’t be sure ) -  “i overslept! but i brought chinese? gus? i have to pee, get your ass here!”
