what if matt didn't leave you
I don’t know. Matt and I were happy. I think we had a pretty strong relationship. There was a good balance there. I felt comfortable. I felt safe with him. I liked his friends, I liked living with him, we agreed on most of what we wanted going forward -- I don’t know. Maybe we’d be planning a June wedding at this point. Or ... maybe I would’ve found a way to fuck it up before that ever could’ve happened. @matthew-adams

– “HEY,” IT’S JUST PAST TWO AM WHEN SHE’S KNOCKED ON HIS DOOR. the circles around her eyes are dark and her skin is red and blotchy, presumably from crying. allie has certainly seen better days. matt is just about the only person she feels comfortable burdening right now, and so she does it – because she can’t bare to stay awake alone any longer, staring at the cieling. “did i wake you ?”

– THEIR CONVERSATIONS USUALLY CONSIST OF WITTY BANTER, some attempt at flirting, and a copious amount of eye-rolling. and usually a fair amount of attempting-not-to-smile on her part. it’s the first time she’s seen him without a cheeky grin plastered on his features, and he looks so different that she almost doesn’t recognize him. she stops short, and when their eyes meet, claire is rendered speechless for a moment, shifting on her feet. “hey,” her voice is gentle, unassuming for once, “um, sorry about your friend.” it sounds stupid the second she says it, and she wants to slap herself. but it’s better than nothing at all ?
