"look who came crawling back." he's teasing, of course. "got all your paper work ready?"

a few hacking coughs sound from behind the bar—dust, he would say, but hooded eyes say otherwise. "what did you say?" he asks, popping back up from behind the bar. "you can't mumble at me like that. hard to hear you around all this noise." or... maybe he should just pay attention.
