Baby Steps pt. 01 || Ares & Nike
Ares Ares reeled back as soon as Nike's palm hit his cheek. He rubbed his scruffy jawline then sighed. "Yeah, I kinda deserved that."
Nike Nike looked at him with fury in her eyes. "I know you did. I should honestly kick your butt, but I'm not in the mood to get blood on my clothes."
Ares "Ohhh-kay?" He took a cautious step towards the goddess and held up his hands in surrender. "Look- About the party, I'm.. I shouldn't have left like that."
Nike "I know that. You were a child. A foolish, idiotic child. And I do not appreciate my feelings being undermined like that." She glares at him, but doesn't move away.
Ares "Whoa. Just wait a second." He dropped his hands and gave her an indignant stare. "I did not undermine you or- or your feelings. And if I did, that was not my intention."
Nike Nike folds her arms across her chest and looks at him. "Sure. Then what are your intentions, Mars?"
Ares His form flickered briefly from the roguish Greek god to the terse and stern Roman god. "Nike. I was.. caught off-guard when the masks were taken off. And I meant all the things I've said." Ares placed a reluctant hand on her shoulder and looked at her straight in the eye, wanting to show he had no uncertainties with his words.
Nike Nike stares at him, looking for anything but honesty. And she was almost surprised to see that his eyes were nothing but honest. "I was too....But it's not like you've been kind to me lately." She sighs. "But I meant what I said too."
Ares Ares mentally cringed at the mention of his recent outbursts with the Goddess of Victory. With his jaw clenched and the hand on her shoulder inching down to take a gentle but firm hold of her arm, he confessed once more, "I like you. I do. But.. you know who I am. What I'm like."
Nike Nike almost laughs. She certainly does know who he is, whether she liked to on some days or not. "I like you...I've always liked you, Ares. And I do know but...If you're going to hurt my apparent emotions, I need to know now."
Ares He shook his head, frustration clear on his face. "It's inevitable. You saw firsthand what I'm like when I was with Aphrodite, I can't do that to you. And I can't just let this conversation end without doing this." His Adam's apple bobbed up and down in his throat and went for what he wanted for centuries. He dipped his head and paused hairsbreadth away from her lips.
Nike Nike's breath hitched, but she didn't allow him to have this just yet. "I am not Aphrodite. I am ten times as strong and I can handle myself....I'm ready for this. For you...." And with that she connected their lips, not being able to handle another second of waiting.
Ares Ares couldn't very well disagree; he knew she was one of the strongest women he knew. Her will and courage to go for anything she wanted was what attracted him to her in the first place. The moment heir lips connected, his eyelids slammed shut and he grasped her lithe waist to pull her closer to him.
Nike Nike let him pull her close, her hands wrapping around his neck as she kissed him deeper. It had never felt more right to kiss another person than it did in that moment and if everythign did go horribly wrong, at least she had this.
Ares Ares refused to think of the ramifications of his stubbornness to completely embraced what was in front of him. His tongue took control of her mouth. No holding back. He didn't want their first and maybe last kiss to end in just a few seconds.
Nike Nike moans when their tongues touch, her hands running through his hair as she kissed him. She wasn't sure what in Hades she was doing, but it felt amazing.
Ares He swore he felt fresh sparks radiate through him when she moaned. Feeling bold for the first time since their conversation, he slipped his hand under her top, curling his fingers so he could rake blunt nails across her soft skin.
Nike Nike practically purred when his hands moved across her stomach, loving the way they felt on her skin. In all of her years of being a goddess she truly did not think she felt a pleasure as intense as this one. But being unable to help herself, she pulls her lips away from his, but not her body. "A-Are you sure?"
Ares Was he sure? Sure of pining after Nike from afar? No. Laying out all his cards and just be with her? Yes. Ares placed his forehead against hers, his eyes still shut from the exhilaration of their kiss. "Let's date. Gods, I can't believe I'm saying this but.. I want this. Baby steps."
Nike Nike smiled at Ares, partly in a state of shock about being wanted by him. He's implied it many time over the last few days, but this? He actually said he wanted to be with her, to try. And that was all she ever wanted. "Okay....I would love that, Ares."
Ares "Okay." He echoed, exhaling as if a great weight was lifted from his shoulders. He couldn't help himself from stealing another quick kiss from her lips and tugged her towards the direction of the camp's lake.
