new york was proving to be eventful in all the wrong ways. she ran into ninny, got into a fight with maddie, it was like everything was upside down in new york. was it true what they said? was she hiding from herself? had she not revealed who she was to anyone? the thoughts raced her mind constantly, thinking of a person who would take her self-deprecating thoughts away, james. 

calliope sent him a text, seeing if he was available for a picnic in the park, they set a time, and she brought the goods. now they sat in central park, under a big oak tree, callie’s head on his lap, as her eyes watched the clouds above them, “do you think i’m shallow?”

the two girls had gotten an early start to their day, began with some breakfast though mostly coffee at tiffany’s, a great way to start their day of sightseeing, the local views. on their journey, they came across the farmer’s market, one of calliope’s guilty pleasures, browsing the local produce while chatting about the wind, checking out boys every now and again, when prompted. 

their day momentarily interrupted by her past, glad the moment went as quickly as it came, returning the smile to her face, ready to pretend it hadn’t happened, “ooh those strawberries look great” she muses, gliding over to the empty booth of fruits, mindlessly pursuing them, “all we need know is a wine sampling”

zai was trying out some new products, moving merchandise, see how well people were receptive to the batch he made with win. showed his fake, and mingled with the guests, popping in and out, making a sale, making a friend, though amidst his schmoozing, his eyes landed on jensen, of all the bars,  he could try and avoid her, keyword try, excusing himself as he made his way over, “so you’re stalking me now?”

“alright sora” zai says taking a seat at one of the seats for the water race, “i hope you’re ready, because i’m not going easy on you” he challenges her, though they both probably knew, she’d be leaving with a stuffed animal regardless.

so calliope hadn’t talked to james in a couple of weeks, she hadn’t planned on having such a busy summer, yet here they were. she figured there was no harm in popping over to his room to surprise him with a day, though she didn’t take the time to see where he was, and just walked over to his room, knocking on the door, but when the door opened, it was not james, but some guy, she believed nolan, “oh hey, hi” she laughs softly, “let me guess, james isn’t here, and i just ruined your nap”

it was a scene in a movie, one of his favorite movies, how could he go to new york and not reenact the scene? casually leaning on the rock as he watched the rollerbladers glide passed them, some falling, but most gliding, “it’s time” he says, picking up a stick and placing it in the middle of the path, taking a step back, awaiting for the scene to come to life.

“you can admit it” she tells leo with a soft chuckle, “the yellow ducks are cute” sprinkling some food for the ducks as they sat near the lake, it was something she loved to do as a child, and she couldn’t think of a better person to torture with the cuteness of ducks, “but you’re totally that duck” she muses, pointing to loner duck, joking of course.

“hey!” she calls out to the familiar stature, the sidewalk busy like it should be, easy to get lost in, a smile on her face once she reached him, “ have you seen maddie?” having lost her recently, figuring he might have seen her,  having lost her just moments ago.
