“I’m home! Where’s my favourite boy?” Opening the front door to her home, Jiya called out as soon as the door was open, dying to hear the patter of her son’s little feet and his excited squeal at seeing his mother for the first time that day. Shared custody was never something Jiya had thought would be a part of her life and even though she was used to being away from Sam with her work keeping her busy, being at home without him was proving extremely hard to deal with.
Work had unexpectedly ran late today and at the risk of not being able to get to Ravi’s to pick up her son in time, before his bed time, she had asked him to take Sam home and wait for her there. It wasn’t ideal, but it was the exact reason she had given Ravi a key in the first place. Having him so close, in her house that wasn’t their house was the kind of sting she was just having to get used to.
“Mommy!” Crouching down, Jiya caught her son as he launched his little body at her and she held him close for a second before picking him up, resting him on her hip as she slipped her shoes off and left her bag on the counter by the door. “Have you grown overnight, meri jaan, you were not this big yesterday.” Walking through to the living room, she pressed a kiss to Sam’s temple, using him as a distraction as she glanced to Ravi. “Thank you for bringing him over, last minute urgent appointment.”
