Fog swirled around his feet and curled above his head, chasing Crius greedily. It clung to his clothing and swallowed the space behind each step. This fog was heavier than the average night, saturated with the kind of energy that keeps itself hidden until the moon rises. Selenite orbs drifted close, their enchanted light casting a halo that rebounded off the fog, nowhere near enough to reach the next grave—it clouded his vision more than aided it. The wizard had a strong suspicion he hadn't lost his path by mistake, but that something or someone had helped circumstances along.
"Well," he muttered, slowing to a halt. The trail he so carefully kept sight of had vanished beneath his feet, replaced by poorly kept grass and loose dirt. "This looks promising."
