“Rue.” Finally, she found her though she wished that her best friend was the first one she came across. All sorts of emotions were whirling within her and none of them were good. And not a single one settled even when her eyes landed on Ruby. No other words were said, what was there to say. Are you okay? She could ask that but the answer was clear, no. None of them were okay. Actions were always better than words, especially for a girl who’s love language was physical touch. Arms wrapped around Ruby’s body, pulling their bodies close to each other, eyes glossing over in the process.

“Excuse me, you’re Ruby Meriwether, correct?” Of course she was, her face was plastered all over social media with articles and electronic magazines that spoke about the first family. Hand held out for a handshake, they introduced themselves. “I’m Monique Lanchester, it’s nice to meet you. I actually wanted to talk to you about your new... lime light.”
Gallagher’s literal sunshine of course rolls up with gifts for her friends! Because she’s a poor girl and used up a good chunk of her allowance / the money her parents send her, she could only give a select few gifts. Of course, the best friend / wifey ( @rubymeriwether ) gets something that has been in the works for months! Because Sunny sucks at knitting, she hits up Grandma Martin to create this really cool sweater for Ruby because fuck yeah, welcome to the family! For Maia ( @maiacurfman ) and Cyrus ( @cyrusdiaz ), Sunny had ordered a blanket from Amazon that has a bunch of pictures of the three together on it. She doesn’t know what to do with Cyrus’ blanket, it currently sits in her room in Alabama. Ricky ( @teflonsos ) gets a really cool gift: a picture frame that has hot wheels cars glued on it ( I’m laughing as I type this out because I actually made this before omg ). There isn’t a picture inside of the frame, she’s hoping to take one together during the NYE party. For her lovely older brother figures Levi ( @levimadden ) and Caden ( @cadenlucca ), she gets them a bedazzled bottle of their favorite alcoholic drink. A little note that says “ please drink responsibly c: “ is included with it. Make sure to thank Imani for buying those drinks, boys! And finally, for her roomie Marifer ( @marifervalv ), gets one of those cool Spotify glass art ( that she ordered ! ) that has a picture of the two and the song “ May I “ as their song.
She goes back to Alabama for winter break where she spends most of it crying and in her room. It’s the first time she has lost a close friend like that so she’s not doing too well.
Remember her insomnia? Of course you don’t because it’s in her new intro and I never posted it OIAGJAIGA. Yeah, that hits her and might for a bit during the new semester.
Mostly only messages Ruby and sometimes Maia. If she reaches out to anyone else, it’s to say “ Happy Holidays “ or “ Merry Christmas “, type of thing.
Her family gets her this really pretty bracelet and she cries when she gets it. Wears it everyday alongside the matching necklace that she has with Ruby.
Her mom comes to her one night, where she’s up late sitting in her room, watching some random movie on Netflix where she hugs her youngest daughter. Sunny is barely listening but when she does listen, it’s when her mom says to her, “ Are you sure that you want to stay at Gallagher? It’s seem to be too dangerous than what I was expecting. “ It’s with one look that she shuts the older woman down. Because she wasn’t going to give in and run away, no matter what.
Sees her grandparents where she puts on a fake smile and doesn’t try to bring the mood down in the family.
Not much else. She lives her hometown to head back to Gallagher, despite her parents asking if she would rather stay home longer.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t my least favorite Meriwether.” When he learned that Ruby was also attending a spy college, it was a major shocker for him. ‘ and she hasn’t dropped out yet ?! ‘ was his immediate question, surprised that the youngest Meriwether hadn’t dropped out and gone to a different school. “Ya’ still kicking I see.” @rubymeriwether

“Ruby!” She half yelled, half whispered the other girl’s name. She had just left the threat elimination professor’s office, grateful that she wasn’t in serious trouble. It was Ruby’s text that got her out of the office earlier because goodness, how could she forget what tonight was. “Ruby, I’m sorry that it took me so long. I got held up with something.”

She stays up the night leading up to her best friend’s birthday, sitting out in the common area with a box in one hand, phone in the other, and her foot tapping rapidly. It feels like eons are going by, that’s how long a singular minute feels to the youngest Martin. As if the universe is just messing with her, which feels like a common thing at this point. It’s when the clock strikes midnight that she hits send on the video that she created for the other. A very silly video of her singing to Ruby aka performed by the lovely mun Kashia. Following the video is a text message reading “ meet me on your floor in the common area “, then another one two minutes later “ no seriously, come out or else ill BANG on your door “. She wouldn’t actually do it but Ruby didn’t need to know that.
When the other does finally come out, Sunny is quick to her feet, throwing her arms around the older girl. “It’s your birthday!” Of course she knows this but Sunny finds it appropriate to remind her. Pulling away, she holds out the white box for the other. “Just because it’s so late and I don’t want to keep you up all night, here’s your gift.” And she’s watching, Ruby’s reactions, how the other girl smiles at her, how she holds on tightly to the box before opening it. A pink ( yes it’s blue here, just imagine that it’s pink kk <3 ) broken heart that has the word “ friend “ inside of it. From behind Sunny’s back, she shows off the matching pair, a purple broken heart that that has “ best“ inside. “It’s a friendship necklace that I got from Justice, which I know is really childish but! I think it’s cute and matches us, plus, I’ve always wanted matching best friend charms.” Meeting and befriending Ruby has given her the chance to do so.
Now they’re both wearing the necklaces, purple for Sunny and pink for Ruby. Each other’s favorite colors, adorable! They’re beaming, happy with their necklaces and with each other. “Okay, now go to bed, you have a long day ahead of you because you’re twenty-one, oooo!” And she’s laughing before pausing, eyes narrowing. “But be careful, Levi might try to offer you a drink now that you’re legal. If he does, tell me and I’ll beat him up for you.” Is it a joke? Maybe so, maybe not, who cares! Not these two as they hug each other goodnight and go there separate ways simply because the mun has nothing else to say because her brain is not Working.
“No lie, this is my first time taking a dance class. I’ve been through years of self defense classes and one boxing class--” Because Isaiah wanted to do something as a family. “-- But never dancing.” The two were sitting on the ground across from each other, the bottom of their shoes connected to each other, and hands connected as well. Stretches were a must before they started dancing, said their Professor, so find a partner. Pulling Ruby towards her to stretch out the other’s back, she made sure to be careful and to go slow. “Have you taken any before?” @rubymeriwether
